What resources might be recommended for those who have not been able to attend Sunday Mass?–my reasons are very specific, that I do not care to specify. I understand spiritual reading and things like that, but I guess I find little that replaces a sermon, or obviously the Mass itself, of which is itself… partially a mystery of faith? Anyway, maybe studying the Catechism. Something of seriousness that would do well enough–such as, even inspiration for praying and expiation.

I’ve been away from the Mass long enough and would like to ‘catch up’. Any help is of appreciation.

First off, you should confirm that your reasons for missing Mass are valid with your pastor. Otherwise, to miss Mass on Sundays and days of obligation violates a precept of the Church and the third commandment, and is a grave sin. Besides dispensing you of the obligation, a pastor can also impose a workable alternative for you to do in its place.

That being said, and assuming your reasons for missing Mass are good ones, I recommend CatholicTV’s telecast of the Mass. It’s also available online if you don’t get CatholicTV where you are, and there are other sources that also stream the Mass, including one I’ve seen that does so in the Extraordinary form (I’m afraid I don’t remember the link for that one).
