sorry i have been asking too many stuff, but i would like your help getting rid of this problem.

you know, some time ago i usd to play a videogame where one of the enemies that could also be turned into a pet was based on a what could be a real demon, so i began worrying that it could attract demons anger towards me, so i did an internet research and found out on not Catholic sites that using symbols and such were an invitation to demons, so I was very scared, that by watching a movie or a videogame where a real demon was depicted was an invitation to them. some time after that and after speaking with some Priest and reading some threads here they told me that i had not to worry about that.

but the fear is somewhat here, now i dont fear that much movies (yet still there si some fear), but still when talking about music bands and websites, I kinda scared, and began looking at their cd covers, and their logos, and lyrics. and if they do have something weird it makes me feel uneasy. Also what ive heard about some rock music being consecrated to the devil (I think Fr. Amorth said that) fuels my fear.

so I ask your help in this, what should i do about this? when i was a kid i thought that for invitation to a demon you actually had to invite him, so music and games where just that. do you think i should do that again and just seek for the morality of stuff instead of looking for hidden meanings and stuff?

BTW: when i speak about real demons I was talking about those who had names, like the one i was first speaking the name was the same of the god which the templars supposedly worshiped, I dont know if considering those names as real names of demons could be somewhat of occultism, since the Bible does not mention them, so if you happen to know the Church teaching about this, please tell me. Just the Church’s opinion (and the ones we should know), I would not like you go looking into demonology, since its a dangerous science and it is forbidden for most of us, if not all.

There is rock music and rock music.

Any instance of a popular medium can be morally good, bad, ambiguous, or neutral.

A lot of pop and rock music has blatantly sexual themes, and yet it’s heavy metal, and not the trash put out by people like Britney Spears, that elicits the loudest condemnation.

I think the key word here is discernment. There are plenty of rock and metal bands who write interesting, challenging songs without “demonic” or “satanic” lyrics. Apart from some extreme genres, such as “black metal”, I don’t think we can dismiss rock music as being “consecrated to the Devil”.

That “guy” (I assume you mean “Baphomet”) is a favourite of video game makers.

If he bothers you, avoid him. It’s as simple as that. There are plenty of games that don’t refer to him.

And of course, there’s this:

rpgmaker.net/games/5644/

where you can actually fight Satan and win. 😃

“God gave Rock and Roll to you!”

My favourite version:

One of the greatest rock songs of all time…

With respect, most negative rock music is the Devil trying to take something that was indeed given to us by God, and use it to insult God.

yeah, the stuff is that the discernment, since then i have it quite confused.
lately i have been trying to go with confidence in God, that i dont need to check everything so carefully, obviously i wont listen to a song that goes “Hail Satan” or something like that, but I dont think i should be looking for hidden messages, I think that would be the best option or what do you think about it?

I think the “hidden messages” hysteria is overstated.

If a song contains overtly sinful lyrics (and this includes not just rock but pop and rap), is blasphemous (black metal) or is an occasion of sin, then avoid it.

Otherwise, rock on! 👍

thanks for your answers. they really helped me a lot.

now on other stuff about it, it kinda related to the yu gi oh cards, Ive been wondering about this, since there is a card based on Satan, if this is allright? besides there is another card game that had some cards that were based on Christian/Jewish religion, like Moses and such, besides there are cards that have suggestive art on them, i was wondering if it would be ok to get some of those, or to keep some i have the art is pretty well done, and not all the cards have problematic themes, for example there are some of the mexican revolution, and from historic and mythological characters.

As for cards that have suggestive art… I think it would be best to avoid any of the ones that have sexual themes to them. I don’t see anything wrong with cards that have mythological/historic/fictional characters as long as there is nothing sexual about them, or obviously give off the idea of glorifying Satan.

Also, I’m not sure if u are asking if playing certain CCGs are ok, but just in case, I’ll touch base on that, too. For CCG’s (Collectible Card Games), I believe u need to look at the overall objective of the game. I used to collect a lot of different CCGs myself, such as MTG (Magic the Gathering), Middle Earth, Star Trek, Ani-Mayhem, etc., and I know some of them had diabolical/demonic creatures, but they also had angelic, good guy characters as well. As long as the objective of the game isn’t giving honor to Satan or something diabolical, I believe playing the CCG itself is fine. Just look at tarrot card readers, some of them use just regular playing cards, but what makes what they’re doing sinful, is the objective, or the end result which they are trying to obtain, which is trying get into contact with the spirit realm/predict the future/etc… So it’s generally not the cards themselves that are sinful, it’s more so of, what are u trying to do with them?

IDK about that opinion, I kinda think we all need to be on the lookout for attacks all the time, as demons will come when least expected and when we are at our weakest. I think its probably better to be vigilant about checking things like this versus being to relaxed…better safe than sorry comes to mind.

I saw a story about some YOUtube video some time ago, that I did not watch, but saw a short clip of it, supposedly it summoned demons on its own, it was very strange, had alot of strange symbols and I recognized a few of them as being demonic name symbols, so I did not dare watch the whole thing. We all know demons can use the internet lines to move about, so Id be careful about what you watch online, I would bet there are some sneaky websites out there that inadvertently invite demons into your life without you even knowing its happening!

There is a diference between being irresponsible and just living in peace, the first would be to be summoning demons and going into the occult thinking nothing happens, the second one is to not fear you might get a possesion by watching a fictional movie where Satan is portrayed.

the second one is kinda important since that fear can lead to mental problems, i can tell you that first hand, there was some time where i was very scared, if someone mentioned a videogame like silent hill I tried to avoid the conversation and even paying atention to it.
better be safe than sorry in this case I take it to ask first, to avoid the two extremes.

also seeing the Devil everywhere is bad, as the Cardinal Norberto Rivera Carrera said.

Hello.

The book Catholics and the New Age by Fr. Mitch Pacwa might help you; it’s worth a look for this sort of concern.

Just my opinion though, please take it or leave it.
