Help me get through this time

I’m coming home to the Catholic Church, however, I want to take the Eucharist. I know that I can’t in the Church, but I’m having a very hard time not attending the Episcopal Church that I’m a member of right now, just to receive.

It is so hard.

I’ve found that Adoration helps.

Any advice, suggestions, etc to help me.

I’m very glad to hear you’re on the way home.

Concerning your temptation to receive at the Episcopal church, remember that it is only symbolic - you would not be receiving what you truly long for, the Body, Blood, Soul and Divinity of Our Lord.

I like this short prayer of Spiritual Communion:
I wish, my Lord, to receive You, with the purity, humility and devotion with which your Most Holy Mother received You, with the spirit and fervor of the saints.

I’ve heard people in RCIA say that the hardest part of becoming Catholic is having to leave the Eucharist in their previous church behind. Even if it’s more symbolic than real, it is a loss. It’s also a sign of how much they’re willing to sacrifice to become Catholic.

All I can think at this point is to consider the example of Mary. During the time she was pregnant with Jesus she must have longed every day to see him and hold him in her arms. Perhaps she can be your guide and example during this time of waiting.

If it helps, imagine it this way:
You long for the Eucharist the way a bride or groom longs for their wedding night, when they can give themselves completely to their beloved. Imagine a bride or groom saying, “It’s so hard to wait, I think I’m going to join myself with this *other *person in the meantime, just to satisfy my longing.”

I had to wait 7 months until I could receive. I know what you’re going through. But remember, now that you know the fullness of the Truth, anything else is a lie you make with your body and soul.

Wow, I knew that I would get some encouragement here!

I will offer up my frustrations for all of those who do not know or understand the fullness of the Eucharist and for those who have left the Church. Thanks Monicad for that idea! God bless you!

Cari…seven months!!! Oh, my goodness… I’m inquiring tonight with the Religious Education Director about classes, etc. Does it really take that long? guess that it could, if I have to wait until Easter Vigil to come into the church, I’ll hopefully find that all out tonight.

Up until now, I’ve just been studying the faith (for over four years), been confirmed in the Episcopal Church because, well, to be honest, it was as close as I could get to being Catholic, kwim?

THE SPIRITUAL COMMUNION
By a rescript of November 24. 1922 the Sacred Congregation of Indulgences approved the following formula for a spiritual communion:

"O Jesus I turn toward the holy tabernacle where You live hidden for love of me. I love you, O my God. I cannot receive you in Holy Communion. Come nevertheless and visit me with Your grace. Come spiritually into my heart. Purify it. Sanctify it. Render it like unto Your own. Amen.

Lord, I am not worthy that thou shouldst enter under my roof, but only say the word and my soul shall be healed.

An indulgence of 500 days, if thrice repeated.

It was the Cure of Ars who said, “A spiritual communion acts on the soul as blowing does on a cinder-covered fire which was about to go out. Whenever you feel your love of God growing cold, quickly make a spiritual communion.”
