I got this used copy of the Catechism online and it’s autographed on the inside like this. Anyone know whose signature this would be???

james l. coufal

or

jaines l. coufal - however the i isn’t dotted

It was/is typical to sign and date the catechism that you were given post-confirmation.

However, that being said, it seems to read “James L Confal”

Confal seems to be a “fairly” popular Surname within Illinois.

I see, thanks all. And thanks for that info Irish-Polock. So no one thinks this is an editor or some other famed theologian or something. Ah well… 😉

I always sign and date any books I buy. I never thought that many many years from now someone would find the book and think I was someone famous.😃

I bought a used copy of the Catechism at a Half-Price Books in Corpus Christi, Texas, about 12 years ago. The inscription on the back cover is rather sad but hopeful:

Dear Nancy:
I pray everyday that you will return to your faith and the Church.

I know that the seed of Faith was planted years ago and it will flourish again.

It maybe on my death bed or your own, but you will turn to Christ again and He’ll be waiting for you with open arms.

Our unconditional love and prayers aways.

Mom

As I bought it in a bookstore, I don’t know either person. I pray for and wonder about those two people.

All these posts are interesting. You learn something every day! :o

That’s my grandfather’s old catechism! Not entirely sure how you acquired it.

-edit-
Sent you a pm.

We should all say a prayer for Nancy.
