No thanks, I really don’t like dwelling on the subject - it’s kind of a ‘turn-off’ for me personally. I support the concept of liberty. I would not want (for example) a radical Muslim to dictate to me how I am to live my life, therefor I do not impose my own values on others. I believe there is room for respect for everyone, unless they are causing harm to someone else.
Is it OK to kill a baby in the womb for others even though you are personally opposed to it? Millions are dead and counting.

Peace,
Ed

Please define liberty and harm with some precision, or at least adequately expound upon what you mean when you employ those very broad, flexible concepts. If you’re going to insist on prematurely halting any discussion as soon as you’re ”turned off,” though, then you may wish to refrain from adding any more superficial assessments to this thread. You’re not in any way legitimately entitled to publicly promote principles on which you stubbornly choose to remain ignorant. Especially when they’re wrong (as that certainly harms the minds of others).

I don’t live in the US and we don’t have same sex marriage here but it is on the cards. This is what I have against gay marriage and the gay rights agenda:

Homosexuals are said to be less than 5% of the population (I read that on another thread here - posted by someone supporting gay marriage) yet we are swamped in propaganda supporting and promoting homosexuality and almost every TV soap opera depicts at least one homosexual couple as paragons of virtue and anyone who disapproves of their lifestyle as hate-filled bigots. Children being raised by the homosexuals are always well adjusted, well behaved and good students as opposed to the disruptive, drug addicted, socially mal-adjusted children living in heterosexual homes. That tells me that there is an organised agenda to brainwash me into believing that homosexual relationships are desirable - more desirable than traditional heterosexual marriage.

What happens when gay marriage becomes legal and “normal”, especially in a society where 5% of the population has so much influence? The new normal becomes something to aspire to. I’m old enough to remember a time when young couples didn’t live together before marriage - when we had stable, two parent families. Gradually, “trial marriages” became popular, the standard reason being that sex being the most important aspect of marriage it was good for couples to find out whether they were sexually compatible. They also had the bonus of finding out whether they would really like living together and it would reduce the number of broken marriages. It didn’t. It also led to the current situation where young couples who choose not to live together are looked upon as weirdos. Any man or woman not involved in a sexual relationship is either weird or a closet homosexual. Any man or woman opposed to homosexual practices must be repressing homosexual tendencies.

Widespread availability of artificial contraception for young people was supposed to cut out unwanted pregnancies, eliminating abortion as a solution. It didn’t. Abortion was supposed to be the solution to babies being born into poverty. It isn’t. All these so-called solutions that have been pushed by the liberal lobby have eroded the very fabric of civilised society. I see the liberal lobby on American TV programmes pushing gun control as the solution to teenagers murdering children in schools yet nobody - not a single person - mentions that a society that legalises, promotes and funds the slaughter of unborn babies shouldn’t be surprised that schoolchildren are seen as targets by young people raised in that society. They mouth on about human and civil rights. What about the right to be born?

Now we have this gay is normal, gay is good lobby, even to the stage where it is better to be gay than straight. If we put gay marriage on a par with traditional marriage, how long will it take before young men think there’s something wrong with them if they don’t feel attracted to their friends on the football team, or are regarded as weirdos because they don’t want to try it out to see if gay sex is better? Not long, I reckon…not even a generation. I’m glad I’m old and hope I won’t live long enough to see the final erosion of morality from our society. I feel sorry for people of future generations hoping to raise a family with Christian values in a society where morality is deemed peculiar or oppressive and where Christianity will be treated as something to be reviled and marginalised.

Sorry about the rant but I’m sick of having the liberal agenda rammed down my throat.

Have hope. I saw the radical Marxist sexual deviants start the whole thing.

It boiled down to the Hippie saying: “Hey man. If it feels good, do it.”

Enrollments in Seminaries are up in the US, some are at full capacity. Both Pope John Paul II and Pope Benedict have corrected errors and helped to lift the smokescreen created by tolerant liberals where their idea of tolerance is a one-way street.

The greatest problems facing both gay and straight are the misuse of human sexuality and trying to ram it down our throats. They won’t be able to force their belief system on people. It’s all built on sand.

The blood of the innocent cries from the earth, but God has not abandoned us in this Year of Faith.

God bless,
Ed

To say that marriage between two consenting, committed adults could lead to people bringing farm animals that they eat for breakfast into court to marry…that is just…science fiction beyond the implausible, beyond the pale.

.
And 20 years ago, the Supreme Court deciding a case regarding Gay marriage would also be implausible beyond the pale.

There is no reason to issue your venom upon me. The OP asked questions and I provided information - none of which was in promotion of anything. If you want to debate the merits of liberty or challenge a dictionary over the definition of the word ‘harm’, feel free to do so with a willing sparring partner.

Peace be with you.

…Is the reason why this is such a big deal is because if Gay marriage is legal, Catholic church’s are forced to marry them? And also can someone give me a simple understanding of…
Honestly, it’s so simple.

The falsehood of so called “Same Sex Marraige” is not only contrary to God’s design but it is a desecration of one of the Roman Catholic’s seven sacraments, the Sacrament of Marraige.

I’m guessing I’d disagree with your definition of harm if you think logic is venomous.

So you weren’t trying to declare any favor or support for homosexual pseudo-marriage? Right.

I wasn’t trying to spar. I’m just showing, for everyone reading, that those who favor state-sanctioned sodomy, often out of deference to some vague, undefined concept of liberty, actually have no idea what they’re talking about and never ought to be taken very seriously on such a topic. I don’t want to be mean, but I have to demonstrate to innocent bystanders that your thought on this subject is extremely shallow, lest even more people be misled into cooperating with evil. You’re welcome to prove that my assessment here is wrong, if you like, but as it stands, it seems your unwillingness to elaborate on your earlier ode to “freedom” suffices to demonstrate that your thoughts on this don’t go very deep.
Peace be with you.
Et cum spiritu tuo!

Agreeing with this poster.

I really wish Catholics would stop trying to make this argument. It’s only going to push people to the other side of the issue, by making us look ridiculous.

There is no such thing as “Same Sex Marraige”… in fact, there is no such thing as same sex sex… there is same sex sodomy…! Likewise, there is no such thing as a square circle…

It’s not our fault if writen laws can be wrong. Natural laws are what really govern the Universe at the end of the day anyway, and when that day comes, redemption is available, but only through the Lord Jesus Christ. That’s the message, don’t fail to know it.

Every place where SSM has been put in place, they are not satisfied, they then must force Christians to worship and accept this new practice. If we don’t, they punish with the force of government. Have a different opinion other than worshiping the SS lifestyle? Punishment!

This is a worldwide phenomena, and even happens here in the USA.

Okay, so I know that gay marriage goes against what we believe in , but why should we make an effort to prevent gay people from getting married? What if they are not religious and don’t care if its a sin? If God gave us free will shouldn’t we just let it go and let the gays do what they want and just pray for them? Until I get more information about why gay marriage shouldn’t be legal my stance on the topic as of right now is this. I don’t agree with gay marriage because its a sin in Gods eyes, but I believe people are free to do what they wish as long it doesn’t interfere with the Church’s teaching.

Is the reason why this is such a big deal is because if Gay marriage is legal, Catholic church’s are forced to marry them? And also can someone give me a simple understanding of what separation of church and state is? please and thank you.

I’m in America in case you are wondering. And I apologize for any incorrect grammar I may have used.
Right and wrong exists whether or not any given individual believes that it does. Whether or not you believe in God, right and wrong still exist. And truth exists. If you do not stand for your beliefs, you will fall to others’ beliefs.

It used to be thought that sodomy would never be legal… until it was. It used to be thought that homosexual couples would never be allowed to care for children… until they were. It used to be thought that homosexuals would never be allowed to “marry,” but here we are…

Next, polygamy. And the pedophiles are coming up behind them. Polygamists already have court cases in the system, and the pedophiles are agitating.

After that is bestiality…

Eventually it will be some sort of “Homosexual Sensitivity Training” in the school system for little boys administrated by the Social Engineers… Homosexuality can and oftain is cultivated although they’d like you to think that they’re always born that way.

** Homosexuality can be cultivated. **

Socialism is basically about beurocratic control of resources, and that includes human resources.

Yes… they’re going after your grandchildren and will like to use the School System, the Armed Forces, the Churches and even the Boy Scouts if they can pull it off…

Its already happening in Germany. Bestiality was legalized there (for some reason) a few years ago. There are now countless individuals who live with their dogs and goats and other farm animals. There is a movement to ban the practice, but the Zoophiles are fighting like hell to keep their “rights.”

I’m not suggesting bestiality is right. It’s NOT.

I’m not suggesting there’s not someone out there that favors it. Apparently there is.

I just wouldn’t, in talking to others, make that my main argument against SSM in the United States.

There is still a huge difference between a same-sex human couple and a person and an animal. If you say to someone on the street, “Well, for one thing, if we legalize SSM it might lead to legalized bestiality,” they’re likely to get angry or act stunned, and won’t be likely to come around to your way of thinking.

Ok. Fair enough. Just throwing that out there.

Well I wouldn’t use it as a main argument either but it is a valid one, the issue is most people don’t understand where the argument comes. People don’t understand that marriage has always been restricted legally way beyond one man and one woman and the reasons for those restrictions is to protect certain interests: minors, mentally incapacitated, to avoid incest, etc. In reality marriage over history has been more like getting a driver’s license but now they want to change that to make it more like a right. By expanding the right to marriage they would be opening a door that would make it very difficult for states to place restrictions over marriage and that is the big problem with this turning marriage into a right. I’d you have a right then it becomes difficult to restrict (look at abortion as an example).

What people are not telling within this whole equality thing is that by approving gay marriage they are legally opening doors for the future, they are opening the path the expand the right …again look at abortion. Now because marriage should be equal and a right - which means literally for everybody - that means that placing restrictions over marriage would be illegal. Maybe going all the way to bestiality is remote but what you are going to see coming right after gay marriage is poligamy and polyandry because the door has been opened. Eventually you would have to allow minors and blood relatives again because it is a right, and you can’t be denied fundamental rights and from there it will go on.

Just think, if you could go back to 1915 and tell someone in 1915 that same sex marriage was the next thing coming up in the future they would had probably said that the argument is ridiculous and probably they would have said the same thing that you just said about bestial about SSM. When the SCOTUS first came with the famous right to privacy nobody in their wildest imagination could have guessed that what was coming next was abortion. Same here. Yes maybe you are not going to have people asking to marry their dog next year but it opens a door in the future for that possibility

thank you for this! really good argument for me to use just in case I get into a debate.
