Hi Rhuarc! I feel the same way about Therese, definitely considering this name 🙂

Thanks Faerie! I am considering Magdalene as well. Beautiful association too 🙂

Fermat, Mary Elizabeth is a beautiful name!

Hi Theresa, I love the sound of Theresa Jacinta. I have not yet chosen a name. So many pretty suggestions to consider 🙂

Hi Crescentinus, I like the sound of Serah. Is it Biblical?

Hi Bravo, Francesca is the name of my great-grandmother, definitely could be a good choice 🙂

Yes, it is. 🙂
Serah is a variation of “Sarah”. The Italian word Sera means “evening”. The name “Sera” in Latin means “Heavenly” or “Winged Angel”. In Biblical terms, the Seraphim are the highest order of angels.
The name comes from Hebrew word for “princess”. 🙂

This is wonderful information. I will consider this name when I get pregnant with a girl. 👍 Of course, the OP can consider/choose this, too.

By the way, I’m liking the sound of Therese Magdalen.

God bless!!

I also like Greek- and Roman- inspired names, like Athena or Apollo (or Apollonia for a girl). Juno is also a great name. Just not Aphrodite, though.

Another name occurred to me today -

Aion Benedict (call her Annie or Benny for short)

Aion is Greek for “eternal” so you put Aion Benedict together and she is “eternally blessed.”

But I will say, I don’t know if it actually sounds good or if I’m just used to it because it’s been playing in my head all day. 🙂

I love baby name threads 😃

my suggestions:

Rose
Giselle
Macy
Rosemary
Chloe
Garnet
Pearl
Kyla
Annabelle
Beryl
Lila
Elizabeth
Angelica
Ingrid

OH OH OH!!!
I vote for Magdalene. Our youngest is Magdalena! She was named after my favourite saint!

Congrats on baby! We’re expecting in Jan and have come up with Helena (heh-laine-ah not helen-a) or Antonia so far.

my two year old niece’s name is Sarah Therese (I gave my brother the idea of Therese as a middle name because we grew up in the parish named for Saint Theresa of Liseux).

Rose
Abby/Abigail
Olivia
Emma (a cousin of mine just had her 2nd baby last month and her baby’s name is Emma. I can also see this becoming popular because of the show ‘Once Upon a Time’)

Veronica

Julia (yes, this is a saint)

Just remember, the child will have to carry this name for the rest of her life. You don’t want to saddle her with a name the other kids in school will make fun of, or one that’s hard to pronounce or which will be frequently mispronounced. (another source of merriment in the classroom.)

Yeah, that’s true. However, the kid will be an adult a lot longer than they will be a kid. That’s why I really like any name for a boy that shortens to “Eli.” No way for it to sound cool on a kid, but it’s a great name for a man, IMO. (Couldn’t think of any girl examples off the top of my head.)

Our daughter’s name is Hannah Marie. Hannah was the mother of the prophet Samuel, and Marie is a form of Mary.

Here are some names from around our parish:
Kay (or Kaye) - a form of Catherine

Ava

Lillian (or Lily)

Cecilia

Gretchen

Grace

Bethany

Other Possibilities: Agnes, Gertrude, Patricia

Hello!

Just found out we’re having a baby and are a bit stumped regarding baby girl names, would love to hear some suggestions 🙂

I’ve been looking at popular name websites and wasn’t too happy with the female names that seem to be in favor today. Lots of names sound plain porn star-ish, a real turn off.

I am currently considering Therese but there may be other female saints that I’m not familiar with and are equally pretty. Thanks for any advice 👍
I like
Shivan (Irish) various spellings out there
Jordan
Hayley
Elizabeth
Julia
Sienna
Laura
Keirstin
Rachelle
to name a few
Good luck
