Help! Need a Saint For Confimation

I just want to thank you all for your suggestions.

I had the opportunity to attend a Marian conference in Jackson Hole, Wyoming this weekend. During this conference I prayed about each saint, asking them to intercede and help me choose the one best for me. I was torn between two- St. Genevieve and St. Maria Goretti. I have ultimately decided to choose both, but the one I will be telling the Bishop when I go up to get confirmed is St. Maria Goretti. Her story really touched me; I thought it was amazing how much mercy she had in forgiving her murderer. She was not involved in women’s rights, but I guess that’s what happens… you find what you’re looking for in the most unlikely place.

Again, thanks so much for your help. You definitely made it easier on me. I was really stressed out, but you guys helped me out a lot. Please keep me in your prayers- there’s no doubt I’ll be needing them in the coming months.

Also, you could insofar as I know choose two names “Maria Geraldine”…sounds lovely too, as incidentally does “Geraldine Maria”…🙂 …

Saints who led lives to please God generally are not into movements of secular things. Movements are temporal things and change with new generations. God is always the same.

Why not a name of one of the disciples?

This is the reason why I joined this forum in the first place, to answer your question because I stumbled upon it on website.

Yes! There is a saint who is associated with women’s rights and that saint (one of my favourite saints) is Saint Teresa Benedicta of the Cross a.k.a. Edith Stein. She was a Jew who went atheist, then converted to Catholicism and later entered the Carmelite convent and was martyred during the Holocaust in Germany. She was a great intellect who wrote many great philogophical and psychological works and also advocated women’s rights.
