Hi,
Lately I have felt like leaving the Catholic Church. I would love a study guide or tool to help me GROW in faith and love for the church again. any suggestions. I am trying to find somthing online with no luck
thanks and God bless
I’m not Catholic, at least not yet. I have been studying the Catholic faith for about a year, and will be making the change when I can (I own a truck and am not home very much, so scheduling things is a challenge). That being said:
What are you thinking of leaving to go to? Take it from me, born and raised Lutheran, went Pentecostal about 20 years ago, been flailing around in the wilderness for the last 10. There is NO solace in trying to figure out which brand of reformation based protestantism you want to buy into. There’s a reason that there are 3000 different protestant denominations, they’re all the result of some split of an established denomination over what are usually very minor points of theology. It gets confusing, and fast.
I would recommend you go to St Joseph Communications web site and search for the titles of CD’s and DVD’s that deal with the areas you’re having trouble with. My first CD was Peter Kreeft (sp?) and his CD 7 Reasons to be a Catholic. Kreeft was a protestant minister who converted. Other converted speakers are Dr. Scott Hahn and Alex Jones. As former protestants they tell the reasons WHY Catholicism is the true faith and the Catholic Church the True Church.
I also have bought the Catholic Cathecism and a 3 volume set of the Church Fathers. Every convert I’ve heard has said that reading the fathers is the most eye opening thing they did when struggling with the idea of becoming a Catholic.
You’re in the right place, IMHO. What you need is a little refresher course on why, and there are literally thousands of CD’s and books that can help you in your quest.
God speed, and all the best in your journey.
