I need advice on a letter that I am writing to my daughters catholic school. Both my girls, ages 14 and 5 are attending a catholic school where there are no uniforms. This is not about getting uniforms at the school, which I would be okay with. I actually have my five year wear them to school anyway.
My older daughter had attended this school in the past but we had to send her to public school because of her learning disabilities. However now the school is equipped for that now and we moved her back to the catholic school because to be honest the public schools just scare me to death. Not that ours was violent, but the sex and bad language that goes on there is just out of control.
Anyway my older daughter has learning disabilities and is being tested for autism in January. She is very literal and has a had time understanding concepts and how things look to others. My daughter is on the volleyball team. The girls are suppose to dress up for the games,(just like at public schools) and for their weekly mass. My problem lies here. Some of the girls come to school, mass and the volleyball games wearing shirts that are so short.
When the girls sit down, if you are across from them you can see their underpanties.
I have witnessed this on more than one occassion and have talked to several parents about it and receive the same response. They say that it’s up to the principal to address it but she won’t because the parents give the school money. It all comes down to money, unfortuanately. So I deceided to write a letter to the principal in hopes that my prayers will be heard and we can clean up the dress code and promote some form of modesty in these children and parents for that fact. Our school is small, there are only 17 students in my daughter’s eighth grade class so you can see how she is influenced by her peers at her school.
I am attaching the letter that I have written and I am hoping that you will read it and give me any advise as to the contents. Should I change it add something else to it? Any advice will be greatly appreiated.
If my efforts fall on deaf ears I do plan to contact our bishop in this manner.
Thanks and God Bless
