But you mentioned in a PM that your cycles varied from month to month…
(mine do as well, which is why I chart)
And you also mentioned that you didn’t take your temperature… 🤷
this was before!!!

in the beginning you said you used Sympto thermal. Now you are saying you use muccous only.

Actually none of it matters. EVERY method used charts. If you arent’ charting, you are not using the method accurately, and cannot blame it.

you’ve contradicted yourself many many times here.

yes i have been schooled in every method and it seemed to me that the mucus only method was more accurate b/c like i said before anyone can have a slight fever at anytime for no reason
Do you check your mucus at the cervix? I, and other ladies on here, have found that checking the cervical postion and cervical mucus sign is our best indication of fertility.

im not trying to get someone to tell me abc is okay its just that with all i know about nfp and after putting my faith and time in it for over 8 years and getting failed by it each time, it gets very frustrating and i just cant keep going on like this. i will end up with 12 or more kids im only 29 now. im sorry to the people who think that i am against nfp, im not i just dont thinks that it works successfully for every single person. people say they know couple who have used it successfully for many years but you dont know everyone. 😦

i started using nfp in 2000 and it was the symto thermal method and i charted for many years. i got pregnant twice when i didnt know i had a fever and wasnt felling sick at all. then after that i decided to just do the mucus method and got to know it so well that i didnt chart my brain is very good and remembering things and yes i checked it at the cervicx

nfp.marquette.edu/index.php

earlier the Marquette Method of NFP through Marquette University’s Institute of NFP was offered as a possible option. the above link gives info on the method, they also have a forum now up & running to ask questions, get help on the method from drs & nps, and for support with using it.

it has been a great method for my dh & i. even when i was breastfeeding and going through some odd reproductive health problems (related to possible endo).

anyway, it might be a NFP option to look into.
Have you tried this method?

See, there is the contradiction. muccous only method (paricularly creighton), you do NOT check at the cervix. there is absolutely no internal checking.

You can’t use rules from one method and apply them to another.

The reality is there is nothing in this world - nothing - that I could want to do with my life, or even my “sanity” (I am not talking about legitimate psychological disorders here) is worth more than the chance that someone (an unborn, yet unconceived child) gets a chance to live. Nothing.

Okay…yep I am back! The protestant! 😃 lol

I feel bad for this lady. I know I am not Catholic but obviously she is very frustrated. Obviously some people are more fertile than others. So maybe these things aren’t working for her. Who are we to judge that she has or hasn’t done this correctly.

Obviously, I am not going to judge you on whether or not you have or haven’t gotten “fixed” as you say. I am “fixed” and obviously have found out just now on this particular thread that I must be going to hell for it!!!  However, it wasn’t becuase I wanted to be. My problem is life threatening if pregnancy occurs (liver hemangioma). They actually wanted to do a hysterectomy on me, however, I refused and said God would take care of pregnancy occured with just having my tubes tied. But, I guess that doesn’t matter here obviously. Thank God I believe as I do. (I know I am going to get static for that last comment)

Also, are there any Catholics out there that would admit to using BC that come to this site?? I agree with mommyofrosebuds, I believe there are alot more in the church using it than stand up and admit, probably because of fear of being beat down. Anyway, it would be interesting to know if anybody would admit to it here.

My next question is…if we are trusting God so much here, why don’t we trust him with our blood pressure, blood sugar, and thyroid and anything else that goes wrong and don’t take medication? I may not be seeing a difference, but is there? If we are trusting him, we are trusting him right?

Also, 1 Corinthians 7:5 says “Do not deprive each other except by mutual consent and for a time, so that you may devote yourselves to prayer. Then come together again so that Satan will not tempt you because of your lack of self control”. Okay, the question is here, what is the “right” amount of time. I believe 1-2 years is pushing it on the amount of time you abstain. I think even in the most perfect marriage that it would cause problems and frustrations and as the bible said obviously, Satan will tempt you with it. I am just giving my 2 cents on this. It also never said to abstain in that verse for not wanting to have children or controlling children or whatever. It said to come together in prayer. Which, again in my opinion, if you are not having intimate relations with your husband for 1-2 years, it would need to be prayer! And not that is not the main theme of a marriage. However, it is obviously one that is important for the couple.

Again, you can all skip over what I have said because I am prostestant on a catholic board, as one has so Godly loving pointed out. But, this lady is frustrated and just needs help, not beat down. God Bless you mommyofrosebuds, you must feel so lonely.

What you talk about is taking medicine or treatment to treat or cure or prevent an illness, disease or deformity. Fertility, pregnancy and children are not illness or disease or deformity.

Taking medicine or treatment to hinder pregnancy/fertility is taking a healthy body and making it behave as if it is diseased or deformed, and can extend to actual surgical mutilitaion of a healthy organ!! God does not condone mutilitaion of the body.

Not at all the same thing.

Yes, there are lots of Catholics who come here and say they use or have used ABC. But they don’t try to argue that the use of ABC is in conformity with Chuch teaching. The question and point of the thread is if sterilization is prohibitted under all circumstances according to Church teaching. The answer to that is “yes”. The rest of the discussion was just a spin off to help with the inevitable question of “now what?”

The Church teaches that all sex acts are reserved for marriage and to be both unitve and procreative (nothing is done to thwart the possibility of a baby being conceived). It also teaches that spouses can make use of natural means of periodic abstinance (NFP) in times where they have prayerfully discerned a serious reason to avoid a pregnancy.

The Church also teaches that large families are considered a special blessing from God.

This is exactly what I believe to be true.

I was speaking to the OP in that post- she has already claimed that NFP “fails” everytime and that she there are plenty of other “good” Catholics who are contracepting/sterilized, so she should be able to, as well. I was merely trying to illustrate how very selfish the idea of sex without consequences (possible pregnancy) is.

Thank you kage_ar for answering my question. You have explained the difference.

Corki…I figured there were more than was speaking up. So what you are saying is…that since my tubes are tied, and for medical purposes because of possible death, I needed to not have my tubes tied and refrain from sex with my husband up until the point that I was in menopause?? Again, I don’t think that is what 1 Corinthians 7 teaches. Just my 2 cents.

Mommyofrosebuds…keep your head up! You are welcome.

DITTO!

Last time I checked GOD designed our bodies to be fertile and for us to have periods and get pregnant and have babies. That is how we were designed. Taking drugs of having surgeries to alter a normally healthy reproductive system is altering God’s design for marriage and family. Sterilization for such purposes is mutilation.

Taking medicine to treat or cure an illness or removing a damaged or diseased organ is restoring the body to it’s natural state, or as natural as you are able to get.

Entirely different things.

so i have 6 kids and am being selfish because i cant afford or handle anymore thats being selfish, then so if you just keep on having babies till you die then your considered unselfish?

The passage in 1 Cor 7

"
Do not deprive each other, except perhaps by mutual consent for a time, to be free for prayer, but then return to one another, so that Satan may not tempt you through your lack of self-control. "

Teaches us that there should be mutual consent, that is - one spouse does not make a unilateral decision. They decide together that it is best to abstain.

There is no guideline on what “a time” means, a time could be an hour or a day or a week or a year or a decade.

It is amazing how close to each other and to God that my husband and I have come during long periods of mutually agreed on abstention.

Please stop being defensive… she didn’t say that… read carefully.

oh so were only designed to have babies. so what about the women who can at all thats just the way they are. and if we are only to just get pregnant and have babies then why you nfp at all why not just have them till you physically cant give birth. if that is what we are suppose to do then everyone using nfp is not following Gods plan for us women
