I am curious if it would be wrong to ask my wife’s parents to watch our two children on Sunday so my wife and I can have a day out. Her parents are Protestant and I’m not sure of their views on working on Sunday. They said they don’t mind at all to watch them but I worry because it will technically create more work for them on a Sunday by watching two young children. Thank you

I guess I worry about the extra work on a Sunday for them and sometimes they have to take them to the nursery and miss part of their church service.

If you don’t ask, the answer is always no…at least you will understand their faith views better!

Most grandparents would not consider an afternoon with their grandchildren to be work or an imposition. You can certainly ask them and they can say no if they have other plans.

Is part of the deal that they take them to thier church services?
I’m unclear about that.

Resting from labor doesn’t mean resting from the care of your fellow man. It doesn’t mean you don’t take care of children on Sunday. An essential part of care for children is watching over them.

I’m a bit confused. You seem to be worried about creating work for your wife’s parents, but you plan to have ‘a day out’. I don’t know your plans but most often a day out might rely on the work of others.
