Ok, I think at this point I have a problem. After learning the grave nature of the sin of masturbation I quit. I have been good for like 2 weeks, but the last few days where hard because I keep having really strong urges. I had been praying when they keep cropping up and this had helped, but today it got worse when I had the urge and turned away I started to feel sick. So I gave in and know the definition is for pleasure which it was not, but it did make me not feel sick anymore. Any ideas to help me with this problem, please?

It’s called withdrawal. You can have withdrawal symptoms for anything that you are truly addicted to. Keep avoiding it and it will get easier. It takes time though. Pray, keep availing the grace of the Eucharist and the Confessional. Keep trusting in God and do your best, one step at a time.

You should also immediately turn away from all thought that sexualizes women and stop looking at any woman or image of a woman that is sexual in nature. The key is to stop it as best as you can IMMEDIATLEY upon realizing you are doing this. If you let the thoughts linger even for a few seconds after you realize it you won’t break the habit nor the urge to masturbate as you are freely -albeit for a short period of time- but freely choosing this demon for yourself. Ask God for His help and give to him the urges or thoughts for Him to do away with but be honest and again, stop immediately anytime you realize you are having sexual thoughts about women except of course your own wife. Remember - stop immediately, after some time you’ll notice you don’t think of women like that anymore or look at women like that where you have urges to masturbate afterwords. Ok - this is admittedly a gross subject and I hope I have helped you a little but - I’m out and good luck!👍

After reading your post I did some reading and found out I have hit almost every one of the symptoms of withdrawal. Such as being unable to sleep (check), unable to focus on things (check lucky if I could stay on task for 5 minutes the past week), flu like symptoms (check), anxiety (check), and vomiting (thankfully no). Also they said about the 14 day mark has some of the hardest symptoms. I will keep trying and now that know it is withdrawal I will double my efforts. Thank you for your support.

Couple things, first get a girlfriend. Secondly when the urge is to great take a nap till the feeling goes away. Sounds nutz but it works.

And Yes pray!

👍

Yea I know, but the first part is harder than it sounds.LOL

Prayer and frequent Confession worked for me. It takes time to get through this though. Don’t expect instant results, and allow God to transform you in this time of trouble. You will come out a much stronger person in the long run…able to withstand other temptations in the future.

Hang in there! 👍
