I’m happy that you are apparently not as injured as you may have been.
It is also good that you are receiving psychological help.
We can ask ourself what is really the greatest means of mortifying ourself, dear one.
The true answer would be in not being selfish in all the little moments and events of each day when we would put ourselves before others, when we need to be kind, to smile, to speak kindly, to help others, when we don’t feel like it. It is also in taking proper care of yourself so as not to make others’ lives more difficult.
Imagine if you had been paralyzed by jumping out of the window, what would have that meant for your poor mother’s life. Yes the best way of mortifying ourselves is to love other people in large and small practical ways, not in any big or small sell-harm actions.
This doesn’t mean “be a doormat”. Jesus has two commands for our lives.
Love God above all, love others as yourself" When He says, “as yourself” He does mean for us to appreciate the gift of our life and self, and to take care of those gifts the best we can whilst living lives of kindness and respect for others.
May God flood you with His love and wisdom, and help you to live a blessed and loving life.
Kind wishes,
Trishie
