Dear Brothers and Sisters,

could you please help me with this:
My grandmother is way over 90 years old and so it will not be too long until she leaves this world.
She let me know that she wants to do everything right now that the time is near. It is also important to me personally to help her “do things right” in her last days. I’m not (yet) so knowledgeable about all the Catholic practices, but to my mind came the sacraments.

Which sacraments would be appropriate now? What other things would you suggest? Should I give her a brown scapular, for example?
I just want to give her all my support now.

And I should mention that my grandmother is Catholic, and has always loved Our Mother of God very much. She led an exceptionally humble and selfless life.

I would be very grateful for your help with this.
Thank you and many blessings!

Does she attend church regularly? If she can’t go to mass make sure that someone brings communion to her. And that she has an opportunity to got o confession. Are your parents informed about her wishes regarding the funeral? If not, talk to them and make sure they know what to do. If they don’t know what to do then get in touch with a priest and ask him to help you.

Perhaps you could pray with her. Something like the Litany of the Saints is quite appropriate for someone close to death. There are many other prayers, have a little look online if you don’t have a Catholic prayer book.

God bless you for being so concerned and willing to help.

In addition to having a Priest hear her Confession & someone to bring her Communion; you should also ask the Priest to give your grandmother an Anointing of the Sick.

Learn how to pray the Divine Mercy Chaplet, it is said that whoever recites this in the presence of someone dying, that dying person will go to the merciful savior instead of the just judge. Another very great thing to do would be for her to pray the rosary everyday.👍
