Ok please help!
I am going through a spiritual downturn in my life at this point. I have no more desire to pray like I used to and I have committed sins that I know are sins and I have done them anyway.
Here is my question.
If I have commited masterbation and watched pornography in the past and confessed my sins, will my sins be forgiven now since I know better and did them anyway, and is that considered mortal sin?
Please pray for me and I look forward to everyone’s help.

Those are mortal sins. When we go to confession, we are to do it with intent of trying not to sin. If we don’t really intend on trying to amend our lives, I don’t know if God would forgive us.

There are a number of ways to work on these sins. One is to keep busier. Sometimes, one might feel lonely and that one’s emotional needs aren’t being met and compensate with actions which are sinful.

If that’s the case, working on getting more of a social life might be helpful. One can join groups, clubs, support groups, volunteer.

Run, don’t walk, but run to confession. Explain this to your priest and follow his guidance. The issue you are discussing is common, but there is help. There is an apologist on this website named Matt Fradd who writes about this subject often. The reason you could be experiencing a spiritual slump is probably due to your knowledge that you are willfully sinning. Thus, causing a divide between you and Jesus. The only way to bridge that divide would be through confession and penance. As far as this being a mortal sin, I believe it is, hence my first advice to run to confession.

“I know better and did them anyway”. That’s part of what makes mortal sin mortal sin. That’s exactly what the Sacrament of Confession is for.

It’s not uncommon for us to struggle with the same sins over and over again. More important than how many times we fall is how many times we turn to God (particularly through the Sacrament of Confession) to be picked up, dusted off, and forgiven. We never want the former to outnumber the latter.

I think you already know what has made it easier for mortal sin to creep back into your life, though: “I have no more desire to pray like I used to.” The antidote is simply to pray. Sometimes prayer is more difficult for us than at other times in our life. Pray anyway. Give God five minutes when you first wake up in the morning. Call on Him. Talk to Him. Read His Word. Do this every day – whether or not you feel like it. It takes discipline. Discipline isn’t always easy. But it is necessary. And being intentional about our relationship with Jesus is the only path to genuine happiness and joy and freedom from the oppression of sin. This is what God wants for you. He wants you to walk with Him. He wants an intimate relationship with you. He will provide the grace necessary for you to have that. Again, that doesn’t mean it will always be easy. But it will always be possible.

U can compare this to how a husband may do things with their wife like sitting through an opera performance even if they don’t feel like it, but they do it anyway out of love for their wife.

The times I am most certain of my wife’s love for me is when she does something thoughtful for me when I know she’s mad at me. That’s love.
