I am an internet wanderer, who adores looking and consuming information. I was looking on information on sacramentals (who doesn’t love them!!), and this site came up.

Now, being familiar with anti-Catholic and pro-Catholic resources, I’m afraid that this site wavered my faith uncomfortable sitting in my computer chair. Viewing the site of the head of St. Catherine gave me a gruesome chill down my spine, and viewing the image of our Blessed Mother as a strange boyish-looking statue made me quiver. Another image portrayed the image of Our Lady of Guadalupe, and beneath lies the caption of “Juan Diego presents image of his temple goddess.”

It told me that the bodies that were incorruptible is a demonic trick.

Ash Wednesday is equivalent to marking gurus on their forhead on third-eye initiates.

That veneration and communication and communion of saints is a form of necromancy and spiritism.

That stigmata is demonic mockery of Jesus’s death and crucifixion.

The gift of ‘bi-location’ (being at two places at once) given to Padre Pio. I’ve never heard of such a gift, and it is leading to such practices of the New Age.
And as our flying saint and levitation, it further reads that

“These are either wild, fabricated tales, or they are the result of Catholic spiritism that they call miracles. Other diabolic miracles EWTN parades as sanctified include statues bleeding, crying, or shedding oil; crucifixes coming to life and talking to Catholic mystics. None of these cheap parlor tricks have any biblical precedent, instead all have parallels in the world of the occult.”

It slanders our Lady of Guadalupe, saying

“This Aztec devil in the guise of a lady appeared to St. Juan Diego in 1531 at the very place that the Mexicans worshipped the goddess Tonantzin, the goddess of earth and corn. Her name means “Our Mother” in Nahuatl, the Mexican language. This devil goddess told St. Juan Diego she wanted a temple built for herself at the same location where the original pagan temple had once stood in honor of the goddess.”

It mentioned the moon under her feet as an Islamic symbol… but all know that it is an artisitc portrayal of the woman from Revelation.

"This is merely an expensive monument outlining the Roman Catholic Church’s agenda in gathering all religions under her jurisdiction. In the past whenever astute Protestant historians documented Rome’s merger of Christianity and paganism, Catholic spokespersons protested loudly denying any such connection. And now they proudly identify the origin of their own Lady of the Angels with the pagan Inca goddess, Pachamama. Unbelievable!
*The artists responsible for the new Mary boldly told the Los Angeles Times, "I think that throughout all the representations of the Virgin goddess, there has always been the recognition that each one of those has been of the time and of the people."12

*So, even the Catholic artists sees her as a “goddess.” Catholic apologists really can’t get away with the denials anymore."

Okay, so the person failed at seeing that the Ark of the covenant was a symbolic fulfillment of the Ark that was created in the OT. nevertheless, I need help in explaining so I won’t have to be lead to conversion to Quakerism.Rationally, I would know that people would never worship Mary a the Goddess, but pagan beliefs always had a great Goddess, but then again, many had a Sun God who came as the ruler of all…

Anyways, please help with this site so I can be ready for such next time and I can be better at understanding arguments made by individuals working to ‘save’ those from the Church.

There are thousands of sites that attack the Church. I would advise you stop looking at them if it is wavering your faith. It’s almost like someone who keeps looking at pornography over and over again just to make sure it is really wrong. This can happen even on this site. Often I see a thread that is the same old tired objection to this or that Church teaching. I have to actively say to myself that I am not going to get sucked into that quagmire. Practice your faith fervently. If you encounter an objection that really bothers you, ask at the “ask an apologist” forum.

Stop visiting theological pornography sites.

Forgive me for my immaturity. But I truly didn’t mean to encounter this site. Fervently, I truly am sorry if I offended you in any way… I’ll just ask my various questions in the Apologist corner then if that is what other people desire from me! 🙂

Dear Silverwings

I don’t see any reason why you cannot ask your questions here as well as asking the Apologists.

Sooner or later all of us encounter anti-catholic material or people persecuting the church and the body of the church(that’s us). It is therefore a fair question to ask why these people say what they do and where do they get their ideas from.

This is a wide topic you have chosen, there are literally hundreds of different belief systems out there and all of them are claiming to be THE faith. Now this cannot be true, can it? There is only one church that is true and Jesus Himself said it will be attacked and persecuted and the followers will also be martyred, persecuted and attacked etc etc. Jesus Himself was accused of being demonic in the Bible, they accused Him of casting out devils by the power of the devil.

Don’t worry dear friend, people will resolve to steal your faith and go headlong about it, Jesus also said, whoever misleads one of His little ones , it would be better they drown with a stone around their neck than face their judgement.

You know we do not worship Mary, Mary is not God but chosen and created by God to be His handmaid, this is why we have a special love and devotion to her. She is the Immaculate Conception.

Most times dear friend people persecute out of ignorance of what they are persecuting, this is also the same for the Catholic church, people are ignorant of the church and therefore hate.

Pray for fortitude in faith dear friend, because there are many hearts and spirits that would love to see you fall in your faith. Ask God to strengthen and help your faith and ALWAYS go with your HEART, faith and the mysteries thereof cannot be reasoned out with the mind…HEART dear friend is everything and most important of all.

God Bless you and much love and peace to you

Teresa

I haven’t looked at the site, you’re description suffices to characterize it. It trully is something that if seen once it’s variations in others are in degree and nt content.

It may help you to understand that the Cathlic Church converted the Pagan nations. Instead of being experiencing gratitude from seperated Christians catholics experience accusations odf idolatry. The Pagan nations weren’t converted by deceit melting atomic words of salvation. They were converted by deceit melting love of Christ that suffered even death from the pagans who were’t so hardened to not realize and experience the paradigm shift from the gift of self being interpreted as use of sef. . A bond between persons developed before the figures within their myth could be pointed at their true object. Believe me before foreigners will let you even think you possess a reality that will shift their power structure alot of blood will be shed to prove there is no use of them at the heart of the missions. Now much of the Truth contained within Pagan mythology was the result f sincere seeking of the good of God.The measure of Truth within their religions was in the measure of their sincere seeking of that good.
The Church applauds those outside her for the Truth they possess knowing that all Truth is hers they hold the pagan’s measure of it as a pre-existent acceptance of the Church.

For this love and understanding of Pagan myth and culture the culmination of which is an incorporation of pagan ideas that were pointed to Christ to convert them. The Church values immensely the contribution anyone seeking Christ may contain.Church is branded Idolatrous.

I worded my respose poorly.
Is there anything in my response that suggests that I am offended? I am not. You can certainly ask questions here. I just recommended the AAA forum because they tend to give succint and satisfactory answers. My response was just as a general advice to someone who encounters stuff that shakes them. There is always someone out there who will say the most awful stuff about you. Better to just stay clear in those cases.

I almost choked on the water I was drinking when I read this line…for some reason it had me rolling on the ground.

Oh, thank you all for your beautiful words 😃 I’m quite passionate about the Catholic Church, and it will be tough knowing that such deception lies in the hands of slanderers of those who cannot accept all these miraculous things from God, because they aren’t mentioned…

But God works in mysterious ways, no? He produces many miracles, because there are miracles that if they were written in the bible, it would take a library!

Frankly, now I just need to find the medal I need online…

Hey silverwing - I so empathize with you. I was not well educated in the Catholic faith and was lead away pretty easily. That disillusion led to eventual agnoticism and even a little atheism. You are right to be concerned when you see something like this and to be afraid. The best thing you can do is to keep your sights on Jesus and His church. All things can be twisted. Learn the Catholic answers to this and while you may not be able to convince the people who would develope a site like this, the knowledge you have and pass on to your children will make them stronger as the move about in the world and are confronted with these same mischaracterations.

My biggest mistake was listening to others and not finding out on my own what the truth is. One example, I was told that the upside down cross on the chair of Peter was a mockery of Jesus’
crucifixion. Of course, the real answer is that St. Peter was crucified upside down because he felt he was not worthy to die in the same manner as Jesus.

I agree that it is best to avoid these sights. We have enough people on these forums determined to set us straight without seeking out even worse garbage on the internet. Used correctly, it is a blessing, but that doesn’t mean that all on it is useful for our relationship with Jesus.

I had a quick look at the site. The propaganda is nothing new, however there is a twist. I do not know whay kind of Fundamentalist the owners of the site might be but they also take a swing at James White and the CRI.

The writer obviously has a pagan fetish, so I hope he has not looked under his bed lately 😃

If you go to this page which is a statement od doctrine of the man who presented the page discussed in the original post you will see:
cultlink.com/ar/mission1.html
  1. He used to be on the East Coast
  2. He & his wife moved to South Texas where he is a teacher at Texas A&M Kingsville ( which is 25 miles West of Corpus Christi).
  3. The Alnors live in a small town of Bishop ( 1500) which is about 5 miles North of Kingsville.
  4. From what I gleaned Mr. Alnor is an unattached layman who likes to post websites.
  5. He seems to be a very Fundamentalist anti-Catholic Protestant.
  6. When you read it, remember, he is a small man, living out in the boondocks who wants to present His build his own ego. There are lots of Coyotes in Bishop,Texas, I know…I live about 90 miles South of Bishop.
***** 7. This guy has a 5013-C ( he does not pay income taxes) I believe this “ministry” is a ripoff to avoid paying income taxes!**

That site is bizarre.

However notice that they have a linke titled “Catholic Answers” .
It doesn’t direct the user to the real Catholic Answers but if someone were to type in Catholic Answers into google they would get a lint to Catholic Aanwers and Catholic Answers forums. Also they give free publicity (though negative) to EWTN.

The Lord works in mysterious ways.

Were those 7 spirits the same as the ones that were cast out of Mary of Magdala?

the only legitimate reason for any user of this forum to visit such disgusting anti-Catholic websites is to use their claims to perfect our apologetics skills. Since this should only be attempted by those whose knowledge of the faith, and personal spirituality, is already strong, it goes without saying that someone whose faith can be shaken by such information has no business visiting these sites. You have only so much time available for web browsing, why waste it. Spend your time learning the basics of your faith and taking advantage of the marvelous opportunities for spiritual growth available to good CAtholic sites.

Visiting those horrible sites is not recommended for those who know little about their Catholic faith. It would be far better for one to spend more time visiting highly informative and faithful Catholic websites instead.

theological Pornography. I love it, and I am going to use it. Good one Scott.

i tried to browse that anti-Catholic site, but had to leave… my eyes drew heavy and bored from reading the same Fundamentalist anti-Catholic rhetoric that you find, repeated verbatim ad-nauseum, all over the internet by the same sterotypical small town fire breathing minister bent on saving his flock from the fiery pit… they don’t hear the teaching of the Catholic church. they simply wrongly interpret trying to find a name for themselves in the sea of like minded non-demoninational preachers.

Never trust a car salesman who wants to sell you his car by telling you how bad the ones across the street are at the other dealership.

Catholic = Universal. The Original. The One Founded by Jesus. The Truth. The Way.

I’m all done rambling now.

I just have to say that those two sites someone mentioned, the anti-Catholic ones, were hilarious. Scary music and everything, oooooh! :whacky: Seriously I’ve seen sites like this and it’s best just to stay away from them. Who are you going to trust, some dude in backwater, USA on his “innernet” or the one holy Church founded by Jesus, that’s existed for 2,000 years? I’m placing my bets on Jesus and his church, thanks.
