Hello! So I’ve searched everywhere, but my friends and I are going to make a video in appreciation of our male friends in our lives and one part of what we wanted to do is have skits of how men “save” women. Just ways that they’re courteous to us and things we appreciate that they do. For example: getting things down from the top shelf at the store, or holding open the door. Just anything, but I can’t think of many ideas. Thank you in advance for your help and God bless!!

ps. it’s specifically a thank you to a group of about 30 christian college-aged men

-Change my flat tire on the side of the road
-Help me load big, heavy, and awkward things into my car
-Help push my car out of the snow bank I “accidentally” drove into:blush:

I’m thankful to the men in my life for not being afraid of power tools; for doing icky, sweaty yard work; for saving me $$ by knowing basic plumbing, electricity, carpentry, and general handyman-stuff; for knowing how to troubleshoot computers; for being great late-night drivers keeping us safe when we’re on the road at less-than-optimal times; for their drive and get-it-done attitudes in general.

Stereotypical, I know, and may or may not apply to your situation, but fwiw. 🙂 Good luck with your project!

LOL I love this.
At 5.1’ I definitely appreciate them getting things down from top shelves for me and replace the light bulbs so that I don’t have to get a ladder out.
Since I have a mini farm I always need a man to fix some kind of machinery ,a fence, a leaky hose, lift something heavy or hold a crazy horse . Actually this was my husband’s job even when we were dating…horse holding at shows , which he was very good at:D. BUT what I appreciate most of all is that my man is a leader, deeply faithful, he inspires people, he cares about people personally and remembers stuff about them even the cashier at the drug store.
I appreciate that he wants and respects my opinion…and that he will take my advice .
I appreciate the strong male role model he is for my son and that he bakes cookies with our daughter .
I appreciate that he butchers our own meat so we know how it was done.
My man is the one who held my son still by the head when he needed 50 stitches in his split scalp and I was ‘loosing it’. My man is the entertainer…OK my man pretty much walks on water:D I will stop gushing now…he would love this but his head would be so big I wouldn’t be able to get him out the door. After 20 + years the appreciation list gets longer and longer.

Thinking back to my college days, I’d say this:

*They’re there when you need to walk across campus at night.

They’re there when there is any cooking to be done that involves open fires.

Actually, they’re there when the dishes need to be done and clean-up has to get accomplished pronto, too.

They’re there to sing the baritone and bass parts.

They’re there when the piano has to be moved.

There is nothing like them for entertaining and impressing middle-school boys.

They’re there when the discussion needs to be turned into a plan of action.

They’re there to keep us safe from the unwanted attentions of jerks.

They’re there when a sound system of quality is needed.

They’re there to prove that “real men do go to Mass.”

They’re there when we need to get the skis off the car.

They’re there when we need someone who actually owns jumper cables…
BTW, I had a male friend in college, a bodybuilder type about whom we would have said: They’re there when you need a really good pie crust, because he made pies at least once a week, and his were really good. As in, Mom-good. When you make this video appreciating these fellows, don’t forget to appreciate their particular talents that are unique to them, rather than only paying attention to their “man talents”. It lets them know you see them as individuals, as having been given a whole range of gifts and charisms that don’t always fit the same mold as every other man you know.

They’re there when we need someone who actually owns jumper cables…
Great post EasterJoy. I would only state that this should be changed to “They’re there when we need someone that actually knows how to use jumper cables…” 😃

(I have always carried them, but don’t know how to use them. 😊)

Men are there with LOGIC when my emotions take me into la-la land. My husband can see things a lot more clearly because he’s not FEELING but actually still thinking.

Yeah, and he doesn’t mind killing bugs.

On a wider level, you guys fight the wars to protect us.

We’re always there to fix your troubled logic. 🙂 Even if you’re rocket scientists and we’re truck drivers.

Mmm…if guys always used their brains instead of acting on emotion, cops would never be called to bar fights. And unless someone is in ROTC, let’s not drag soldiering into this. That’s getting beyond the purview of what college guys typically do.

How about: When our logic isn’t working, yours is, because I think men and women get emotional under different circumstances. We complement each other, that way.

Says the lawyer.* That’s* a good one! :rotfl:
I am glad that you appreciate how lost you guys would be if it weren’t for us always being at the ready to charitably and helpfully point out the flaws in your reasoning. This helps us maintain the resolve to continue doing so for your benefit. Thank you.

Yes, you always need to be complimented by us. Oh, sorry, you meant complemented!

By “you guys”, do you mean women (?!?) or non-attorneys? Either way, it seems like your profession is primarily an exercise in desperately trying to find flawed reasoning put forth by the other attorneys, not the rest of us, and not for particularly charitable reasons, from your opponent’s point of view. You are right about one thing: the general public does not tend to consider these exercises as something attorneys conduct for the public good, rather than to line their own pockets. Who could say why that is? 🤷

Well, yes, I meant “complement”. That is why I chose to use the word “complement”. 😉
(You did say somewhere that you’re an attorney, right?)

Prejudice is not dead. Even if a woman is fully capable of assessing the car herself, it is true that car salespeople too often assume they don’t have to offer as favorable deal to a female as to a male in order to make the sale. They do the same on ethnic grounds, typically offering the best deals to whites over blacks and Asians…not always, but this is what studies have found is the trend. It is not at all clear that this is a;ways a conscious discrimation, although sometimes it is. So yes, it is unfortunately true that if you want a good deal it is probably sensible to bring a white male with you and pretend that he has veto power on the sale.

That’s not emotion, that’s testosterone. 😉
