OK, this may seem like a pretty basic, even stupid question, and I’ll probably kick myself after the fact, but…
I recently acquired a beautiful Cambridge Cameo KJV Bible W\Apocrypha. I’m starting to read through it, and have a question regarding the cross references used. They are center column, and laid out very well. The problem is, while I’m quite familiar with verse\chapter references, and locating them, I am a bit confused by the format of some of these, and the use of the letter “x” for a number of them. What I mean is this, for example on references:
a 3 Jn. 3,4.
b x Jn.2.23.
c x Jn.2.7
&3. II.
Ok. I get the chapter verse references, but then again, maybe I don’t, as I don’t understand what the “x” stands for. Rather than try to type out more, I’ve attached an image from a page, highlighting the type of things I’m referring too. Any help on this would be appreciated. Not sure why it is so confusing to me, LOL.
Thanks
