I feel called by God to Marry and join a 3rd Order.

I’ve investigated Renium Christi, Opus Dei (not a 3rd order but a vocation for laity) and a few others trying to discern what God wants of me.

I know I feel a strong tug to a Lay life of prayer and spiritual warfare.

I’m sorry btw for the bombardment of questions of late, forgive me everyone.

DOH! Lemme try this again.

I’m looking for a 3rd Order that does a lot of prayer, evangelism and spiritual warfare as I believe that’s what God wants me to do.

So could anyone give me any leads for groups to look into?

Vocation Placements helps not only with setting up retreats for those discerning religious life, but for those considering secular orders as well.

I check vocationplacements.org I got a dead link showing a lot of advertisements and an over to buy the domain name.

The link on St. Francis group I’ll be honest it just couldn’t hold my interest but thanks anyway friend! 😃

Hi there! Well, before I suggest a third order can you tell me what area you are in? Because then I would know what communities are near you…I gots to tell you that I became somewhat active with a particular community while I was studying abroad, but now in California the closest of their group is in Texas… its sooooo heartwrenching!!!.. thats why I had to ask first…😊

I’m in the Florence Area of South Carolina.

I have a thing for Opus Dei and the Secular Franciscans. But what I feel pulled towards most is spiritual warfare, prayer, evangelism and the for want of a better term the mystical traditions of the church.

I sorta feel like I am being pulled in two directions at once lol

hmmmm… ok… by spiritual warfarre you mean? … sorry but my vibe with the linggo around this thing is zilch… hahaha 😛

the two orders i had the most contact with are actually new in terms of the congregations… one is Community of St. John and the IVE… i don’t know if that helps… I dont think St. John is near you though… sorry, thought I could help… will pray for you though…🙂

Since third orders fall under one’s personal walk with God and not under vocations, this thread was moved to the Spirituality forum.

Obviously I have been around WAY to many Charismatic Catholics I’m starting to talk like them and my Protestant roots are showing lol

One thing I keep reminding myself Spiritual Warfare isn’t just casting out and binding demons. It can be as simple as attending Mass praying for the conversion of someone. Praying for a corrupt group to be disbanded.

Or going into a pagan bookstore an spreading blessed medals, blessed salt and holy water 😃

Right now I am split between the SFO and Opus Dei. But open to other options.

A Catholic in the Bible Belt??? Don’t let them get your head in a noose!

Outside strong Catholic neighborhoods, your choices may be limited. That’s not to say you can’t participate as best you can over the web and by mail. You may even be able to start a local chapter of a lay association yourself.

The Militia Immaculata is a lay association that includes in its charter: “Pursue the conversion of every person caught up in sin, heresy, schism and especially Freemasonry…” How’s that for evangelical spiritual warfare! The MI’s founders were Franciscan seminarians, led by St. Maximilian Kolbe. In addition to many indulgences granted to MI members by the Holy See, we are also entitled to the Franciscan Portiuncula indulgence. As a lay association, the MI is a very good antechamber to vocations and the Franciscan community. Our local MI spiritual director is also the head of our diocesan seminary. Here are the MI Villages that are currently established in the US: MI Villages

The spiritual formation in the MI funnels very nicely into the charism of the Franciscans of the Immaculate, and the two are closely related.

Yes I am a Catholic in the Bible Belt ^.^

And I got this fire in me going “Souls, souls, souls!”

Plus as I use to be caught up in the occult a part of me wants to be active in spiritual warfare but I don’t feel comfortable in the full on Charismatic scene.

One possibility that you may also want to consider are the Dominicans. They have a third order and from what you said, they sound like they might be a good fit for you. I found one website for them at: 3op.org/.

Thank you I’ll look into these guys I am loving what I see so far ^.^
