When I was a teenager my mother “re-married” into the protestent ecclesiastic community. She took my sister and me with her. Sentiments towards Mary from the new belief system were not always posituve. Things like the rosary were questionable at best. While I have been back in the True Church for several years and pray the rosary devoutly. I trust in the CC. I believe it was founded by Christ. But now I occasionally have to fend off doubts…(i also suffer from mild OCD so this doesn’t help). I worry- What if the Marian apparitions aren’t authentic…then what are they? If the Church is wrong then it could be wrong about other stuff. The Real Presence ect. What if the protestents are right and we are wrong? The Church HAS to be right. Its infallible. Yet I still find myself thinking:

What if?
What if?
what if?

I would gladly die for the Church of Christ. So why do I still doubt?
It’s like no matter who I choose to believe I fear the other side is right and I am wrong. Please understand I am in n.o danger of leaving the Church. But the doubting consumes me sometimes. Even now I feel I should go to Confession for wondering fi the Marian apparitions are of God or of…well you know. Please pray for me and give your words of encouragement. Thank you in advance

Saint Michael the Archangel protect this child in battle. Amen

I suggest you quickly go to your confessor and talk about all this, if you feel uncomfortable to speak to your confessor, make sure you speak to a senior member of your church. You need the support of your confessor and senior members of the church, OKAY?🙂 Do not continue this battle on your own, tell your mind to shut up, I do that to mine:) , she is not the boss of you, you are the boss of her.

Remember the Lord said, “Stay together, do not divide”, “Be patient to one another”. He knew as humans we would make mistakes, but the church must stay together, reguardless of our mistakes or differences, out of obedience to the Lord and out of love. Be kind and gentle to yourself 🙂

**Protestants don’t look at Mary the way we do. I know, I was raised protestant and only converted last year.

Pray for them and their understanding. Don’t doubt your beliefs. Poor protestants think that Mary was nothing but a vessel.

Think of it this way…

If you were God, and you could not just pick your mother but, create her, wouldn’t she be perfect???

In order for Jesus to have been born without original sin, wouldn’t his mother have to have been sin free?

The Catholic church is not about “Mary”, we are about God the Father, Jesus Christ, and the Holy Spirit.**

Father, we come to you now asking
for peace and discerenment. Allow this
person not to be troubled by doubt and
the influence of those who are determined to
undermine Your church.
Fill this person’s heart with peace.
We ask this in the name of Jesus Christ!
AMEN

A thousand difficulties cannot add up to one doubt. May The Lord strengthen and uphold you in The Faith at this time of trial and struggle…

I suggest that you study the moral teachings of the Church.

You’ll see that the Chuch stands alone today with historically correct teachings concerning contraception, homosexuality, abortion, social justice, etc.; which are the big problems of today.

The Chuch can’t possibly derive correct morals teachings from flawed theology.

A question regarding these doubts:
As stated above, I keep questioning the source of the miracles from these apparitions, such as Fatima, and Lourdes. I know it is ridiculous but I end up questioning all apparitions and subsequently if the CC is really not what it says it . It’s been said that the Church is either Divine or diabolic… I hate these doubts because the former worry is blasphemous on the highest order. I find myself pondering this frequently but always come to the inevitable conclusion that th CC is Divine. Now am I constantly falling into mortal sin everytime this happens to me? If so I am seldom in a state of grace. I JUST got out of Confession and these worries came back! I don’t want to keep falling out of friendship of the Lord because my brain can’t make up its mind. This whole situation makes me so sad. I love God. Am I in mortal sin again because I considered who the CC is really serving? IT is written in Matthew 12:32 “Whoever blasphemies against the Holy Spirit will never have forgiveness.” Since I keep questioning the source of these miracles (since all miralces wrought by God are done through the Spirit) am I blaspheming the Spirit with my doubts? ai have no intention of offending the Lord.

Praying that the Holy Spirit will comfort you and give you peace of mind. Praying to St. Dymphna to help you with conquering the OCD. I believe in the apparitions at Fatima and Lourdes. I have been to Medjugorje (which hasn’t been approved by the Church) and felt the absolute presence of God while I was there. It was very inspirational.

I don’t know what else to tell you other than I wish you peace of mind. Please hang in there, God loves you and will help you to overcome these doubts.

Praying for your intentions:

Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee. Blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death. Amen.

God Bless
In Jesus through Mary

This “What if” thinking happens to many of us… It is probably an attack from the devil but it may also be from within ourselves. It is surely not from God.

When you get these thoughts, do not feed into them and think about them. Instead say a Hail Mary, and they should go away. If they don’t say another… and another… and another… until they do.

God bless,
Steve

Thank you all. Now I just ask if I need Confession for deeply doubting the Apparitions of Mary, the Real Presence, the source of miralces in the Church and whether the Church is not what some of the protestent extremists say it is? Do I need to Confess this? Because I hate to think I fall from grace every time I have an attack of doubt.

Difficulty means that one has difficulties (in this instance) believing in something. Doubt means that I doubt it is true and yes, it is best to confess doubts…difficulties do not need confessing since I may be struggling with something but not to the extent of doubting. Although the Sacrament of Penance will bring many Graces and one does not only necessarily confess what one must and that is, mortal sin.
Keeping you in prayer…
