Not long ago, I came across a reference to a book written by one of the medieval popes, I thought one of the Innocents, but I’m not sure of that, a book which was highly popular and influential in the middle ages, a book highly pessimistic about the human condition, with a title something like “The Book of Human Miseries”. I can’t find the reference again, and google searches and searches on Amazon have not helped me. If anyone here knows which book this might be, I would appreciate the help.
