Hello everyone,
Just under two months until my wife and I give birth to our first! Anyway, with this in mind I’m trying to beef-up my educational tools for our Faith. As a grad student I’m used to making “lists of lists” as a way of laying the groundwork to the most important concepts of certain areas of knowledge. On a whim, I’m making a “refrigerator” listing of the most important lists pertaining to basic Catholic knowledge. So far I have:
The Ten Commandments (the Catholic ones)
Seven Deadly Sins
Seven Gifts of the Holy Spirit
Corporal Works of Mercy
Seven Sacraments
Church Precepts
Three conditions for Mortal Sins

Without getting too wordy what others should I include? Remember I’m not re-writing the Catechism…just looking for a nice comprehensive listing of the basic things all Catholics should know. Thanks, God bless.

I have a suggestion:

go online and order the book What Catholics Believe by Mike Aquilina and Father Stubna. It has basics of the Catechism, prayers, guides to Sacraments…and it is pocket size. I carry one in my purse at all times.

On your list? Marian Devotion and Devotion to the Sacred Heart of Jesus
