Help with joing lay communities

I’m thinking about joining either the Lay Community of Saint Benedict or the Carmelite third lay order ? But what is the difference ? Is one better than the other ?
Why are there difftent ones ?

No one religious order is “better” than another. The difference is how and not whether they show their love, honor, respect, and reverence for God. You should learn all you can about each order and pray in your discernment for what is a calling requiring real commitment.

I see that you are in RCIA. The first step is to focus on becoming Catholic and living out your life as a Catholic.

Then you may learn about religious orders and their affiliates. You may be called to one of these orders. Then, much like RCIA, you will spend time in prayer and study, learning what it means to be a Benedictine Oblate, Secular Franciscan, or other person who lives in the world while living out a particular form of spirituality.

The one that’s “best” is the one that God is calling you to, if any.

I recommend choosing a monastery near you and begin to visit and pray with them. If they have an Oblate program, inquire about it.
 
There are different ones because they are attached to differnt religous communities. It’s not that one is better than the other or holier than the other its that they take the charism of the community that inspires it. What I recommentd is that you visit them and get to know what they are like and if you feel a certain attraction to one ot the other, see if you can join it.

One thing to keep in mind with Benedictine oblates: you are attached to a specific monastery, not to the order. Therefore in addition to having a good fit with Benedictine spirituality in general, there has to be a good fit with the monastery’s community.
