Greetings everyone,

I read a similar thread that gave me a good idea for some prayers, but I was wondering if anyone could help me with other suggestions for my situation in particular.

I was recently brought back to the Roman Catholic Church, by the Grace of God, from the occult. I made a full confession and received absolution from a very good Roman Catholic priest. He warned me that the forces of evil would likely bother me for a while and want me back.

Well, I’ve been having nightmares at times, and sometimes feel “blocked” from saying the Rosary (I like to say it everyday, but it seems sometimes I overly procrastinate etc and it feels unnatural) or other prayers, and that temptations are there. I say the St. Micheal prayer, and wear a medal of Our Lady. I pray when this happens that it goes away.

Do any of you have suggestions for me, please?? I’m going to Mass this morning, also.

Yours in Christ.

get in to the habit of reapeating the holy names of jesus and mary, evil will flee…you can do this by saying mentally some ejaculatory prayers…jesus christ son of god have mercy on me a sinner, jesus mary, i love you save souls …etc

i would also pray the "angel of god, my guardian dear "guardian angel prayer…

pray for the holy souls in purgatory and ask god to grant you through their prayers and interccession protection from evil and to help you perservere

I would surround yourself with reminders of Christ’s love as much as possible. Play a Christian radio station in the car. Read your Bible and good books pertaining to faith and the church. Put Christian screen savers on your computer. Anything you can so that all day long you are surrounded by reminders of God’s love for you, which will in turn give you strength.

Changing over to a Christian radio station made a big difference in my life about two years ago. The music is great, but more importantly, having positive messages and Scripture passages present as I’m commuting to work makes a big difference in how I feel and my attitude. Personally I love the national non-denominational station, KLOVE, but some areas have a local Catholic station, so you might want to check into it.

*I do not know if this will help you in your particular situation but I do not see why it wouldn’t.
I went through a period of not being able to pray the Rosary.
The only prayer that seemed to help me with any of my fears or struggles was the Jesus Prayer and the Our Father…
The Jesus prayer is a short prayer and one that you can keep repeating almost incessantly…
Another prayer that I found to help is the Anima Christi prayer…when I say this prayer it is like Jesus actually engulfs me and consumes me in His Divine Love and Protection from all my torments…

Staying close to Jesus in the Eucharist is a sure way to know that He is with you…and healing you…
I have found that praying the Anima Christi when I receive Jesus is very healing and strengthening…
I hope and pray this helps in some way…

You are already doing what I would suggest- going to Mass. I was in a different but similar situation. Bottom line is I think I ticked Satan off when I decided to turn my life around!😉
For me it was important to remember that I must remain “on guard” . To do that I traded in the “breakfast of champions” and have “breakfast with the Saints” every morning I can around the table of the Lord. That first meal gives me the nourishment, fortification and sustainance I need to face all of my challenges.

Also important for me to remember is that not every challenge to my spiritual exercises and practices is a diabolical attack. Sometimes I’m just lazy on my own accord; sometimes it is just difficult for me to focus because I am stressed or anxious about a family member, work, or friends. And even if I’m not able to concentrate on prayer or the Rosary, or anything else I want to do to spend time with the Lord; and as that causes me distress, I offer that frustration over my inability to Him and I let that be my prayer to Him.–And if I am aware that it is the evil one bugging me, I remind myself the the Lord of my Life, the one I’ve given myself to is He who has power to bring me away from the darkest of darkness-Our Lord and Savior, God Almighty- Jesus the Christ.

the Lord is my light and my salvation-whom shall I fear?
The Lord is my refuge- of whom should I be afraid?
I keep you in my prayers and please pray for me.

I was told the exact same thing when I came back to the Church. I was heavily involved with the occult and was a high priestess as well. I can honestly tell you I know what you are going through and I know the forces of darkness are after me like flies on flypaper. I made sure i got rid of EVERYTHING that was related to the occult (statues, tarot cards, crystals, books, etc) those things are doors to evil imo. I also had our priest come and bless our home and beeswax candles to burn in times of spiritual attack. I put up a statue of Our Lady of Guadalupe to remind me of the power the faithful have over the devil (she’s crushing the serpent’s head), pictures of the saints, a St. Michael picture, holy water fonts, a crucifix over my door, etc. I have also started praying to St. Benedict and St. Michael for their intersession. I am not being superstitious in anyway, I just like to be reminded of the Lord’s mercy and love and how I belong to Him.
I will say a prayer for you.

Welcome home!
I have to agree with the above poster that any and all articles related to the occult must be thrown out. Anything else around, in a drawer maybe? In a closet?
If a priest can come by to bless your place after the ‘spring cleaning’, that would be awesome. If not, holy water sprinkled in every room and door way by yourself would be a good thing to do.

Thank you for your cooperation in God’s graces to come back to the sacraments!
It encourages us who are praying for loved ones that haven’t come back, to keep on soldiering.

I’ve been back to Church about 5 years and I have added a lot of Catholic and Christian interests to “fill the void” so that my demons have no room to return to. I do many of these same things listed above. KLove is on iTunes. Also, I’d suggest downloading sermons, prayers, and songs to your iPod or similar devices. Fr. Rutler, Fr. Corapi, Fr. Mitch, Francisian University, Scott Hahn, Marcus Grodi, etc. (from EWTN) and other priests, churches and colleges have great resources available on their websites.

I joined RCIA originally as a guest and then later as a sponsor.

I have 6 or 7 programs I watch faithfully on EWTN - Dish Channel 261 in my area. Many are are also on EWTN youTube.

I like reading the NAB on computer and referencing it at the USCCB website. The footnotes are hot keyed and allow me to jump from New Testament into the Old Testament.

The Catechism and the Compendium are online at Vatican.com and at other websites as well. I attended my parish’ Compendium class and had a wonderful experience. I attend the short Scripture classes when they’re available.

There are so many ranges of spirituality and volumns of knowledge to draw from in a 2,000 year old Church.

I like ancient history and particularly biblical archeology, so I take in a number of television programs that talk on those topics.

I also really enjoy astronomy and biology and the sciences (and I see God in all of those) so that’s of interest to me as well.

I visit my local Christian bookstore to browse through the Catholic section. Althou often limited, I have purchased a great Catholic Children’s Bible, a Catholic Book of Prayers, etc.

I also have a subscription to Magnificat, it has the daily Scripture readings and a commentary for each day.

There was a young monk once, who was tempted by sins of impurity. So, he sought out an old, holy hermit monk to seek advice. He asked the old monk, “At what age does a man stop being tempted by these sort of temptations?” The old monk thought a moment, then looked up and said, “Well, from what I hear, about two or three days after you’re in the ground.” In other words, as long as he is alive he will suffer temptations.

We are certainly in a battle that makes all the earthly battles rolled into one seem like a walk in the park, because those battles are merely about flesh and blood, and the here and now. The real battle is for our eternal souls. And don’t ever forget that Satan has designs on you and all of us! He is a master tactician and knows our weaknesses. But he cannot resist Our Lady, Our Lord, the Sacraments, and a life of virtue, especially humility. St. Anthony was once approached by the devil, who said to him, “Anthony, I long for your soul. But you fast.” Anthony said, “I never eat!” The devil continued, “And you do not sleep.” Anthony said, “I pray always!” And the devil said, “But, Anthony, I have lost your soul, because you are humble, and against humility, I have no defense!”

Prayer, penance, fasting, living our lives in Sanctifying Grace! And always, always coming as a servant, in humility, to those whom we meet. These are our weapons, along with the Rosary! The Rosary is the preferred small arms of our Lord’s army in this battle between principalities and powers, light and darkness, goodness and evil. You don’t have to like it; you don’t have to “feel” good about it. But you have to use it! Like the Nike ad says, “Just do it!”

You might enjoy listening to Fr. John Corapi talk about this war in his series, “Old War/New War” which you can download for free here (MP3 files):

God bless! 🙂

Many good suggestions here. Wearing a crucifix on a chain, and repeating during the day, “Jesus, You died for me. Help me live for You,” can do wonders for getting satan out of your life.

Also, the use of holy water and blessed salt can help. I only recently found out about blessed salt. The blessing for salt is a sort of exorcism prayer, and as long as the salt remains salt, the prayer remains with the salt. It is usually sprinkled around doors and windows, etc. Rock salt is probably best since it lasts the longest. (And it should be non-iodized, i.e., pure salt.)

Beloved Friend,

I am happy you are with the most High. And I am so sorry, you and others are under these attacks. There are very good suggestions on here and I think they will also help me. I never was in the occult but I think we all get in trouble in one way or another and need protection.

A prayer to Michael the Archangel is a great way but also I found Ephesians 6 to be helpful. :knight1:

Finally, grow strong in the Lord, with the strength of his power.
11 Put on the full armor of God so as to be able to resist the devil’s tactics.
12 For it is not against human enemies that we have to struggle, but against the principalities and the ruling forces who are masters of the darkness in this world, the spirits of evil in the heavens.
13 That is why you must take up all God’s armor, or you will not be able to put up any resistance on the evil day, or stand your ground even though you exert yourselves to the full.
14 So stand your ground, with truth a belt round your waist, and uprightness a breastplate,
15 wearing for shoes on your feet the eagerness to spread the gospel of peace
16 and always carrying the shield of faith so that you can use it to quench the burning arrows of the Evil One.
17 And then you must take salvation as your helmet and the sword of the Spirit, that is, the word of God.
18 In all your prayer and entreaty keep praying in the Spirit on every possible occasion. Never get tired of staying awake to pray for all God’s holy people, :knight2:

I also believe having people pray with you is mighty. ►Matthew "17 For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them."◄ I will pray for you too. :gopray2::gopray2:

May God be with you and give you protection and blessings abound!

Love,

§heila
