Help with St. Ignatius

I have been reading (over and over) the following:

I tried to find an online seminar or even an IRL seminar but was unable.

I need to discern what is the torment of the evil one and what is my normal human response to a horrific reality in my life. It appears to me that, the closer I get to God and He to me, and the more I work on behalf of others (in prayer or other ways), the more vicious and condemning these “attacks” are. So, some of them have to be from the evil one, it can’t all be in my imagination. Is anyone here familiar enough this this subject matter to help clarify it for me so that I can rebuke the attacks from “outside” my self and address the “interior” problems from normal human traumatic response? I thank you in advance.

Sounds like you need a spiritual director and a grief counselor.

Creighton University has a spiritual exercises site. Better yet, would be to connect with a spiritual director versed in the spiritual exercises. One group is based int he Quad cities Ithink. Various Catholic retreat houses offer spiritual exercises in several weekend formats, to a 30 day format. I agree with the other poster (#2 I think) who cautions you against getting involved with unauthorized groups.

Actually, I have a spiritual director and I have a grief counselor (two years worth). What I NEED is someone to kindly help me understand more about these rules, if they are able. If not, that’s fine.

Actually I got an email from someone connected to that site in response to my inquiry regarding seminar locations. It is sort of confusing. She was quite polite but she had no information, so you’re right. I’ll just stay away from there.

I may have missed something here. Have you discussed this with your pastor? or Confessor? They often have insight into the kind of attacks you are experiencing. Whatever you do, keep up your prayer life and receive the sacraments often. Priests have often studied the Ignatian retreat, done it, or are aware of the issues involved. Talk to your priest.

Holy Spirit, continue to be with elizeena and guide her through this period.
