all my friends are goin out 2nite and my mum always lets me go but because its good friday shes like u have to stay home cuz its a sin2 go out on good friday…

this dosnt make eny sense at all!!!

is it?

Hopefully this won’t be a recurring problem. Because Lent and Easter is so early this year it threw everyones out of kilter. I made a run to the grocery store, because I had no food for dinner, but I got home at 12:03 am, so it was already Friday. I had to eat a can of clam chowder when I really wanted a Hot Pocket if I had gotten home 15 minutes earlier.

Hopefully this won’t happen again. I think it was a lousy idea to cancel St. Patrick’s day this year.

If you write like a pre-literate child, don’t be surprised if you get treated like a pre-literate child.

**Some places anticipated him on Friday or Saturday before Palm Sunday, but Holy Week suppresses all other commemorations, even Annunciation (except on the Byzantine Calendar).

Deal with it.**

It’s a genuine question regardless of how it’s expressed, so I don’t think we should get hung up on the grammar.

It’s not exactly a sin per se to go out on Good Friday, but it hardly shows appropriate respect for Our Lord or any understanding of the significance of His death to be out partying on the day on which He died.

Would you like one of your loved ones to go out partying on the day of your funeral? Don’t think so.

I’d agree with your mum on this one. It’s the night of the Passion of Our Lord.

It makes sense, because on Good Friday we remember when Jesus Christ died on the cross for US. It is not a day of celebration, but of remembrance, and we show respect to God by FASTING, ABSTAINING, and giving up the day to the Lord.

I am not sure further explanation would lead to improved clarity, so I’ll leave it there.

Very well said! Sometimes it’s hard to stand up for what’s right. If your friends don’t get why you can’t go out, that’s one thing. If YOU still don’t get why you shouldn’t go out today, I would recommend watching the Passion of the Christ this morning. I doubt you’ll still want to go out tonight after remembering exactly what it was He did for us today.

Tell your buddies you’ll see them another day.

Easter won’t be this early again until the year 2160…so I doubt any of us will be affected by it;)

zad listen to your mother. God commands it. And, she’s right:) It’s just one Friday night, there will be others.

Good Friday is a day of fast and abstinence from meat, a day of penance and SORROW. Jesus gave up his life for us, was tortured and hung on a cross for three hours in agony.

We are called to a day of somber sorrow for our sins-- to reflect on this great mystery, go to church, and pray.

Going out withy our friends is not appropriate on Good Friday.

And, you owe your mother respect and obedience.

First, how old are you and what were you planning on doing when you went out with your friends?

Remember, since this is a fast/abstinence day (under pain of mortal sin, except for those over or under certain ages), all activities on Good Friday need to be restructured around that restriction.
