I am looking for advice on organizing, saving money, decluttering, etc… Feel free to post or PM anything helpful.
The best is Peter Walsh. I love his book, It’s All Too Much. Even though he’s not a “Christian” writer/speaker, he has a wonderful spiritual approach to clutter. It’s not just “organizational” techniques. It’s a whole mental and spiritual approach to “too much stuff.”I am looking for advice on organizing, saving money, decluttering, etc… Feel free to post or PM anything helpful.
***On organizing…which I’m pretty bad at myself…there is a book called The FlyLady…it’s really been helpful to me.I am looking for advice on organizing, saving money, decluttering, etc… Feel free to post or PM anything helpful.
The Flylady has a website that will send you e-mails everyday to help keep you organized…it was really helpful…then I just stopped reading the e-mails***On organizing…which I’m pretty bad at myself…there is a book called The FlyLady…it’s really been helpful to me.
There is one tip that does seem to work quickly. Set an oven timer, or egg timer…for one hour, and ONLY clean/organize for that amount of time. When the timer goes off, see where you are. Often times, you will just keep going and going until it’s done! That little trick really works!
On saving money…this is another quick thing that works…If you see something you ‘have to have’ at the store, say (whatever your indulgences might be)…DON’T BUY IT. Give it THREE weeks, go back to the store, and look at the item again. If you still want it after three weeks, then buy it. The theory is that three weeks is usually a good amount of time to see if we really really want something…and if not, then most likely it would have been an impulsive buy.
Hope those things help?***

This book really bothered me, for one specific reason. The best is Peter Walsh. I love his book, It’s All Too Much. Even though he’s not a “Christian” writer/speaker, he has a wonderful spiritual approach to clutter. It’s not just “organizational” techniques. It’s a whole mental and spiritual approach to “too much stuff.”
He also talks in the book about how de-cluttering can save money.
His books are easy to read and entertaining, not boring.
Go buy this book, it’s worth it. My daughter borrowed my copy and it inspired her to deal with her clutter. Then she loaned it to one of her work associates. Within a few months, EVERYONE in her workplace (a ballet company) had read the book and was dealing with their cluttered lives.
Here is a link to his website: peterwalshdesign.com/5faq/1_5faq.html
Good luck with this.
