Dear Montie,

I would reccomend this website to anyone considering converting to Catholicism.

biblelight.net/index-mystery-babylon.html

“And thine ears shall hear a word behind thee, saying, this is the way, walk ye in it, when ye shall turn to thine right hand, and when ye shall turn to thine left. Ye shall defile also the coverings of thine graven images, and the ornament of thine molten images of gold: thou shalt cast them away as a menstrous cloth; thou shalt say unto it, get thee hence” Isaiah 30:21, 22

Well, the site is funny in spots. This page attempts to prove that Catholicism is pagan because there are ‘sunbursts’ decorating the facade of the papal apartments, and St. Peter’s Square is a giant ‘suburst’ wheel:

Obviously, the Catholic Church worships Baal! My eyes are now opened! I feel the burning need to read some Jack Chick comic books!

On this page, the website’s author uses consummate skill, impeccable reasoning, and mountains of verbiage to prove that Jesus was crucified…drumroll…on a FRIDAY!

He also devotes a page to warning everyone about the perils of Mad Cow Disease.

Herry, if you’re looking to learn something, as you said in your very first post:

Hi folks,
My name is Herry, I was just foooling around online, and i stopped by, thinking i might learn something.

you’re not going to learn much going to sites like that. I’d recommend the Catechism of the Catholic Church.

But thank for the link; I needed a laugh!

Thanks for the advice. 👍 I found in the CCC something that clearified my one big problem on Mary (CCC 971) which makes going into R.C.I.A. Classes a whole lot easier. Though I want ya’ll to know that untill Sempteber 13 when the classes start I will still be pestering ya’ll a lot. 😃
Montie – if you were in the military operations and training business, you’d hear people say something I coined. When you get bogged down with an overwhelming load of possibilities, arguments, and permutations, “Pick one, Dagnabit!”

Pick one of their arguments or claims and stick to it. Trace it back to its origins. Read the scripture in context. Talk to knowledgeable people on that issue.

What you’ll find is, Light Ministries is flat wrong. Their standard tactic is to try to overwhelm you with all sorts of different problems, claims and so on, and never give you time to study one in detail. Don’t play their game – pick one.

And then come back and say, “But you were dead wrong about such-and-such.” And don’t let them run off in different directions – hold their feet to the fire.

PS… some of this is outrageous, such as this example:

I assure you this is baloney.

Many such oaths were “discovered” and presented to Congress during a hearing in 1913, the most famous one being the so-called “Extreme Jesuit Oath.” The true story can be found at this URL (among many others):

geocities.com/okc_catholic/articles/jesuit_oath.html
Where else can I get information on the “extreme Jesuit oath” and other documents shown at the Congress in 1913. Thanks.

Anyone can submit stuff to the Library of Congress, there is a link that explains this I will look it up, as this Jesuit oath is explained pretty clearly in an article I just read.

If no-one posts it, I will come back Tuesday and give you the info that refutes and explains this.

God Bless

Damn…I thought I was a knowledgeable Catholic…why didn’t anyone tell me that The Pope is God on Earth and that he is immortal…I feel left out of the loop.
