Well, I’m not sure.
By ‘you’, Jimmy, I think you are addressing non-Catholic Christians and nonChristians, right, since this is the non-Catholic religions part of the Catholic forums. But since plenty of us Catholics are here, I don’t THINK the Protestants (most of them) mind US going there. And some Protestants might indeed encourage nonCatholic Christians to ‘go to the source to see what Catholics really teach.’
OTOH, if I were the pastor of many (not all) Protestant churches, and one of my congregation was ‘considering swimming the Tiber’. . .well, I MIGHT (if I, as a Protestant, was SINCERELY if WRONGLY convinced Catholicism was the WOB) discourage the seeker. Not because I was convinced that once he saw the sites and was blown away by the truth and I would ‘lose’ a member, maybe. . .but MAYBE because I’d be afraid those “lying Catholics’ would sucker my poor Christian brother/sister into the WOB”.
I don’t think we can make such a blanket generalization.
I do think though that if we were more specific: Like, “If I were a Protestant pastor, or the spouse, family, or close friend of a Protestant considering Catholicism, I would ‘discourage’ the seeker from checking out Catholicism, especially through internet links”, we might have SOME (not all) Protestants who would be more or less in favor of THAT.
I mean, there are some sites that we, as Catholics, discourage our Catholic AND our Protestant friends from seeing because they are not only misinformed but vicious and anti-Christian (www.jesus-is-lord. springs to mind quite easily here).

Only under the cases that Tantum ergo mentioned would I see a reason for Protestants not wanting anyone to see those sites. www.biblechristiansociety.com is awesome. I’m from Alabama, where these guys, or guy rather(John Martignoni) has this ministry. You can download all his talks for free and he uses the Bible only to argue the Catholic position, so you would be able to go “toe to toe” with a protestant that really knew scripture, if you like arguing your point with protestants.

Thanks for the links. Most of those I have been to, but some are new to me. I’ve used the Catholic Encyclopedia probably the most out of all those. A couple other sites I find useful are:

Excellent. I’m sure you know that you have to defend yourself down here sometimes.
But to answer the question, I don’t think they really care all that much. In fact, some might want to learn all they can. Many would probably say that if you couldn’t handle going to one of those sites, then you aren’t very secure in your faith.

since it appears you’ve gone on to include all non-Catholics( and former Catholics…that’s me), I’ll chime in…Actually, I often refer people to the Catechism, the Catholic Encyclopedia and CAF, on a religious question and answer community I am part of.
I am a pantheist, but if people want to know the real deal about Catholicism, I’m happy to direct them to good sites that can answer their questions and provide the information they seek.
