This is one of those songs that just touches me deeply. I can seldom make it through the song without choking up at some point.

I know I have failed often, and that I will fail in the future. But please Lord, help me to always desire to hold your people in my heart.
 
I do like this song. One of the few “newer” songs I like. We sang it the other day at daily mass.
 
Yes, I like this song as well and sometimes I get a lil misty-eyed when we sing it.
 
It is my favorite. It is interesting that it usually shows up whenever I am at a particularly difficult point. I have specified it for my funeral.

I have heard it done at funerals on a few occasions and found it particularly touching.

I heard it again yesterday at Mass, which is what brought it to mind, and it called to me especially in thinking about how I treat God’s lambs, and the Lamb himself in his many distressing disguises.

It scares me that I ask Him to send me, and that when He does I might show His face in a way that might actually scare off one of His fragile or wounded sheep.

Now some think it is sad? I think it is hopeful and How I met my fiancé - by going where he led. hmmmmmm

I don’t think it’s a bad choice at all Jen, nor do I think of it as being a sad song.

I know that you constantly would follow His call, and it would be a natural song for you. 🙂

Though I have to agree. I tear up when I hear it too. Perhaps I should stay away from songs that are gonna send me sobbing.

I am already wondering how I am gonna make it down the aisle without crying. I saw a wedding scene in a play this weekend and I got all teary.

You getting yourself hitched Miz jrabs? How did that little piece of news escape my attention, I wonder? Congraddylations!! :clapping:

Hmmmm. Wonder where that came from? I hate the drudgery involved. I really do. This video could be God speaking to me. Time to re-evaluate.

And we never sing songs like this at seminary. Don’t think we sing anything newer than the 19th Century it seems like. Not that that bothers me particularly. I can do without most modern churchy music. “Gather Us In.” Yuck. Problem is, I can’t pick up the melodies of most of the songs we do sing. And the Hymns from the LOTH are just hideous. Absolutely awful.

My, I’m just a pile of steaming sunshine this fine evening, aren’t I? :rolleyes: Sorry. I’ll try to be more positive.
 
Minor quibble with lyrics: It should not read “if You lead me” as there is no question but that God leads each of us. Better that it read “where You lead me.” This makes the song an act of positive assent on the part of the one singing.

What if it was alluding to the time when Moses told God that
he would go if God would go with them and lead?

During a period of time, so many people in my old church were
touched by this song that nearly the whole church raised their
hand when the words “here I am Lord” were sung…I miss that
church.

Not at all! Both DH and I really love this song and had it at our wedding. There are those who hate ALL contemporary music, but I’m in both camps, I really love both.

No song about God is hideous to me. Someone put in their
effort and time just for the purpose of honoring God. To the
person who made that song, it was a prayer from their heart
they were willing to share with us through no small effort.

That’s sweet.

They’re still hideous.
 
This has to be one of my personal favorites. It reminds me of the passage in the bible where Samuel after mistaking the voice of God for Elijah says “Speak Lord for your servant heareth…”
