A question… where in scripture does Paul call eating lobster an abomination?

apromisemade, the non-denominational Christian (whatever that is), says that Paul called eating lobster an abomination in a previous post. I just want to know where this is in scripture.

lol…i guess i’ll wait for that one too then

i’ve been to a non denominational church before…it was…very different. no crosses…no jesus…no symbols of christian…anything…just a room…with a stage up front…and some guys rockin’ out with guitars songs about happiness and brotherhood…

i half expected them to sing ‘its a small world’…

People here can be very judgmental of other people.

God is love. He recognizes the love we have for one another and forgives us of our sins. I believe he forgives us of all our sins. I don’t think he forgives some and not others.

We call God our Father. As a father, I might be blessed enough to have three sons. I love my three sons with all my heart. My wife and I have raised them in a loving home.

Perhaps one son is now married and has two children. Another might live with his girlfriend and have two children out of wedlock. They do not believe in marriage. Perhaps my third son lives with another man in a homosexual relationship. They are hoping to participate in a same-sex marriage soon. They want to adopt children. I may be sad that these options are available to them.

Do I agree with all the choices my three sons have made for their lives? Probably not. Have their decisions caused me heartache, grief, shame and even despair at times? I’ll bet they have. Will I attend the celebration that is planned for the union between my homosexual son and his partner? Maybe not. This might make my son sad and angry but it isn’t something I am capable of accepting. I’ve communicated my position, beliefs and concerns for my sons very clearly. There are many issues we have had to agree to disagree on. Do I love my sons and their children any less? If I love them less because they have made choices that I am against, who benefits?

Does God love us less when we go against Him? Does He love us less when we are angry with Him?

I believe in Jesus. I believe He will come again to judge the living and the dead. All I can do is pray that my loved ones make choices that will allow us to be together for all of eternity.
This is one almighty cop out.

Of course God loves us. Of course God has mercy.

But what people fail to acknowledge is God is calling us to repentance. How can there be repentance if what is a sin is no longer recognized as such.

Take for example murder. Of course God will forgive us should we repent of this sin.
But to say that it is no longer a sin is an outright lie and can only be prompted by the devil.

Another lie that is being proposed here is “I will sin because God will forgive me anyway”. This is a rather depraved mindset because we have already decided that our lifestyle will be geared towards this sin. There is a grave failure and a refusal to acknowledge that this is indeed a sin.

We may not judge hearts. But we can certainly and must judge actions. Actions are objective truths.

We must call sins what they are: sins.

So many people give the story of the adulterous woman as their support for this kind of position saying that Jesus did not condemn the woman. They always cut it a verse short.

Jesus’s last words were “Go and sin no more”. When we aid and abet the practice of homosexual sex, we are in fact saying go and sin some more.

Some people seem to think worship is about feeling good. If that is all one wants I say: “Just go to a party, imbibe some vino”. You’ll get the same hype there.🙂

There is something that is asked of us than just praying that our loved ones will make the right choice. If we know what the right choice is, we must tell them without equivocation what that is. We need to pray for moral courage to be able to do that.

Jesus calls us to preach the Gospel. Not water it down.

When we receive the ashes on our foreheads on Ash Wednesday, we are told to “Turn away from sin and believe the Good news”. Before we can turn away from sin, we have to first recognize that it is indeed a sin.

When we fail to acknowlege sin as such, then we no longer feel the need for repentance and forgiveness. There is no longer a need to pray for strength to follow God’s will.
