I won’t quote the whole thing, but here is the beginning of it:
Jihad means to war against non-Muslims, and is etymologically derived from the word mujahada signifying warfare to establish the religion. And it is the lesser jihad. As for the greater jihad, it is spiritual warfare against the lower self (nafs), which is why the Prophet (Allah bless him and give him peace) said as he was returning from jihad.
``We have returned from the lesser jihad to the greater jihad.’’
The scriptural basis for jihad, prior to scholarly consensus (def: b7) is such Koranic verses as:
-1- ``Fighting is prescribed for you’’ (Koran 2:216);
-2- ``Slay them wherever you find them’’ (Koran 4:89);
-3- ``Fight the idolators utterly’’ (Koran 9:36);
and such hadiths as the one related by Bukhari and Muslim that the Prophet (Allah bless him and give him peace) said:
``I have been commanded to fight people until they testify that there is no god but Allah and that Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah, and perform the prayer, and pay zakat. If they say it, they have saved their blood and possessions from me, except for the rights of Islam over them. And their final reckoning is with Allah’’;
``To go forth in the morning or evening to fight in the path of Allah is better than the whole world and everything in it.’'Details concerning jihad are found in the accounts of the military expeditions of the Prophet (Allah bless him and give him peace), including his own martial forays and those on which he dispatched others. The former consist of the ones he personally attended, some twenty-seven (others say twenty-nine) of them. He fought in eight of them, and killed only one person with his noble hand, Ubayy ibn Khalaf, at the battle of Uhud. On the latter expeditions he sent others to fight, himself remaining at Medina, and these were forty-seven in number.) …]
The caliph (o25) makes war upon Jews, Christians, and Zoroastrians (N: provided he has first invited them to enter Islam in faith and practice, and if they will not, then invited them to enter the social order of Islam by paying the non-Muslim poll tax (jizya, def: o11.4) -which is the significance of their paying it, not the money itself-while remaining in their ancestral religions) (O: and the war continues) until they become Muslim or else pay the non-Muslim poll tax (O: in accordance with the word of Allah Most High,
09.1 He who has provided the equipment for a soldier in Jihad has himself performed jihad, Those believers who are unhurt but sit behind are not equal to those who fight in Allah’s path with their property and lives.“Fight those who do not believe in Allah and the Last Day and who forbid not what Allah and His messenger have forbidden-who do not practice the religion of truth, being of those who have been given the Book-until they pay the poll tax out of hand and are humbled” (Koran 9.29)
People should be scrambling to learn what islam is all about. Lest they become its victim.I wonder how long this thread will stay up. I suspect that it will be taken down because people are afraid of the knowledge of what is in Sharia laws and the Koran.
The problem with that sort of thing that I find is that they only tell us what we want to hear. They don’t do one darn thing to stop Al Qaeda. Look at Pakistan. They have taken our money and do nothing and maybe give us one or two guys way down on the ladder of leadership. Last year sometime they told us they were not going to do anymore to help us after they got a bigger chunk of our money.People should be scrambling to learn what islam is all about. Lest they become its victim.
I’m still waiting to hear from the muslim scholars…imams and other muslim clerics to condemn this video. They won’t though. They fully support it. Just by their silence. Now…if the pope or any other Christian leader where to encourage Christians to indiscriminately kill muslims…these so called muslim leaders would be screaming islamophobia and hatred of muslims. Isn’t it amazing the grip Satan has on those in his religion?
UC Berkeley’s Student Senate passed a divestment resolution targeting Israel in a 16 to 4 vote at 3 AM this morning, March 18th. The resolution calls for the University to divest funds from GE and ITT because of their ties with Israel. Professor Alan Dershowitz immediately issued a statement denouncing the resolution.
“Divesting from Israel is immoral, bigoted and if done by a state university illegal. It encourages terrorism and discourages peace. Any university that would actually divest from Israel will be subjected to countermeasures–financial, legal,academic and political. We will fight back against this selective bigotry that hurts the good name of the University of California. This misuse of the university’s name does not represent the views of students, faculty, alumni and other constituents of the greater Berkeley community. Instead it represents the hijacking of the university for improper ideological purposes. It must be rejected immediately and categorically.”
This bigoted and hypocritical anti-Israel divestment resolution that UC Berkeley’s Student Senate passed last night in a 16 to 4 vote.
Singling out Israel for condemnation in the 100-year- old Arab-Israeli conflict is immoral and racist, and “anti-Semitic,” according to New York Times columnist Thomas Friedman.
It is also illegal if done by a state university, according to Harvard law professor Alan Dershowitz.
StandWithUs is shocked that the 16 Senators based their decision on the widely discredited UN Goldstone Report. Liberal democracies condemned the Report for bias, misinformation, and distortion of facts, law, and legal reasoning.
The divestment bill claims to be a response to Israel’s alleged war crimes in Gaza, but anti-Israel activists have unsuccessfully called for divestment from Israel since 2002, years before the Gaza war began. The Student Senate unfortunately was hijacked and capitulated to this bigoted campaign. As Professor Dershowitz points out, it “does not represent the views of the greater university community” which has consistently rejected divestment efforts.
If the Berkeley Student Senators really opposed war crimes, they would condemn the ongoing killing in Darfur, the Congo, Iran, Nigeria, and other countries where human rights are consistently violated and the murder of innocents is systematic. They would denounce Iran as it violates all international resolutions and races to build nuclear weapons to dominate and terrorize the region and export its Islamist revolution.
If the Senators really wanted to promote Palestinian- Israeli peace, they would denounce the historical record of thousands of Hamas rocket attacks from Gaza against Israeli men, women, and children in southern Israel where children still suffer from severe Post-Traumatic Stress Syndrome. They would condemn Abbas’ government for honoring Dalal Mughrabi, the perpetrator of the worst terrorist attack in Israel’s history, by officially naming a public square after her and holding ceremonies in her memory-all just days before this Senate resolution passed. They would condemn Abbas’ government for fomenting riots over the past week because Israel completed restoring its 300-year-old synagogue in Jerusalem which had been destroyed by Jordanian forces in 1948. They would condemn Abbas for refusing to recognize the Jewish State of Israel, and for refusing to return to the negotiating table.
Above all, they would condemn Hamas whose founding document calls for the murder of Jews, the obliteration of Israel and its replacement with a Taliban-like theocracy. They would denounce Hamas’ occupation of Gaza, its oppression of Gaza’s people, and its routine murder of its Palestinian opponents.
If the Senators are interested in peace, they should praise Israel’s multiple peace offers and repeated willingness to compromise. If they oppose human rights violations, they should support Israel, a staunch American ally in the larger battle against terrorism and anti-democratic regimes.
StandWithUs is extremely disturbed that the Berkeley Student Senate focused on condemning democratic Israel yet remains silent or seems to endorse the real crimes against humanity and the real enemies of peace who threaten both the Israeli and Palestinian people. Apparently the Student Senate no longer believes in “speaking truth to power.” Instead, it has capitulated to the bigotry, falsehoods, and racism of anti-Israel campaigns encouraged and supported by oil-rich nations in the Middle East.
