I noticed on this board that there is a theme that our Muslim brothers’ and sisters’ wish us to believe. It’s is the belief that the spread of Islam was done in much the same manner as there American equivalent, the Mormons do today, by going 2 by 2, door to door, knocking and being invited in to gain new converts. However, we Westerners, being rogues, actually had the audacity to attack peaceful Muslims in far off Jerusalem.
Ah, but it helps to know a bit of history to put truth in perspective. Let’s just take a small slice of the West’s experience with Muhammad’s followers in just the area around Rome between the years 813 to 882. Naturally, there is no need to include Spain, France, the rest of Italy, the Balkans, Sardinia, and the other islands, or even as far off as Northern Italy or the Alps to get an idea of the bigger picture of kindly Muslim activity in the years from 632AD until the time of the First Crusade in 1095 AD.
In 813 AD, the port of Rome, Civitavecchia was sacked. In 846, the Basilicas of Sts Peter and Paul, and the Lateran were desecrated and plundered. St. Peter’s doors were stripped on their silver and the altar above ST. Peter’s tomb smashed. Well, what’s the use of a conquest if you can’t plunder and pillage! The Saracen (Muslim troops) felt at home and when the Saracen fleet attempted another pirate raid on Rome, they met with defeat and the Muslim survivors were forced to build the Leonine Wall around the Vatican , which can still be seen by tourist today. Again in 882 Pope John VIII defeated a Muslim advance on Rome at Fundi where he captured 18 ships and liberated over 600 Christian captive. Well, I don’t think that I need to go into any other details of European history for I think that this one small slice suffices to remind us of Muslim forgetfulness.
I will just add two souvenirs from my time in the Philippines that relate to the peaceful intentions of the Muslims there. These two are: the term Amok describes the wanton killing of Christians by fanatical Muslims, and the Colt 45 which was used by the U.S. army to stop them where nothing else could.
Well, forgive me for this bit of history, but I felt it relevant to the truth of history.
