I feel stupid for asking this, but can one pray mentally to the Blessed Mother?

I know you can talk without words to God, but can you with the BVM, your guardian angel, and saints.
Feel like I should know this. 😉

So theologically, it sort of works like this … God is the only one who you can share your conciousness with, He knows your thoughts and everything about you. As we can all agree, we do not “worship” Mary, we do not “pray” to Mary. We ask Mary for her intercession through Christ, and she knows what we’re asking and praying about only through the graces of God … so God hears our prayers and then lets Mary (and saints) know what we’re doing and permits participation in our petitions and prayers.

So, in short, Yes! Pray to Mary all the time, she’s just going to lead you closer and closer to Jesus, nice!

Angels, the Blessed Mother, and saints are not limited by earthly forms of communication. They are given the faculties by God to know about and respond to mental prayer.

Thanks guys for your answers. They make sense. I know I was being stupid in asking. 😉

Sort of off topic, but I was just silently chatting with my guardian angel on the way to work yesterday morning, I asked her to please go talk to Jessica’s (my daughter) guardian angel and ask said GA to knock some sense into Jessica so that she will resolve an issue she’s been struggling with this week. Last night I got a text from Jessica that the issue had been resolved. 💓💓 Love it when these things happen!!!

“Pray” simply means “ask”. In the play Hamlet, his mother says “Hamlet, I pray you, do not go to Wittenberg”. She is doing nothing more than simply making a request to her son.

Of course we DO “pray” to Mary - in the exact same sense that Gertrude “prays” to Hamlet. We ask for her intercession. We ask her for.other things too. It is not wrong for us to ask.our earthly mothers for favours or help.of various kinds. Neither is it wrong to do the same with our Heavenly Mother.
