I have to ask another question to know if I’m in mortal sin or not, please indulge me, like I said I have ‘scrupulous’ tendencies & OCD and more importantly I was baptised only less than 2 months ago… So I have a lot to learn of course, and living in a largely non-Christian Country i can Encounter Problems in finding a confessional before taking the Eucharist…

After Ash Wednesday Mass, I fell asleep during my bus ride as it takes over an hour to get back home. When I woke up, I realized that all the other passengers that I could see were male and I remembered the sort of awful News items where Young Girls are raped, sometimes murdered when they are caught up in a Situation where they are the only female passenger in the bus… Thinking of those People I felt this rage rush over me and I found myself thinking homicidal thought of People who would commit such acts.

Immediately after having such extreme, homicidal rage thoughts I felt bad, thinking “Oh no, and I had just received the Eucharist”… So I was still quite sleepy I think, and the thought happened Kinda suddenly, but I must ask if I’m in mortal sin or not…? Thank you in advance…

Let’s be clear on what exactly a mortal sin is
In order for a sin to be mortal, it must meet three conditions:
Code:
Mortal sin is a sin of grave matter
Mortal sin is committed with full knowledge of the sinner
Mortal sin is committed with deliberate consent of the sinner
Code:
This means that mortal sins cannot be done "accidentally." A person who commits a mortal sin is one who knows that their sin is wrong, but still deliberately commits the sin anyway. This means that mortal sins are "premeditated" by the sinner and thus are truly a rejection of God’s law and love.
Your thoughts were not committed with deliberate consent and could probably be described as more of an emotional state. No sin here. Be at peace.

395. When does one commit a mortal sin?

1855-1861
1874

One commits a mortal sin when there are simultaneously present: grave matter, full knowledge, and deliberate consent. This sin destroys charity in us, deprives us of sanctifying grace, and, if unrepented, leads us to the eternal death of hell. It can be forgiven in the ordinary way by means of the sacraments of Baptism and of Penance or Reconciliation.

396. When does one commit a venial sin?

1862-1864
1875

One commits a venial sin, which is essentially different from a mortal sin, when the matter involved is less serious or, even if it is grave, when full knowledge or complete consent are absent. Venial sin does not break the covenant with God but it weakens charity and manifests a disordered affection for created goods. It impedes the progress of a soul in the exercise of the virtues and in the practice of moral good. It merits temporal punishment which purifies.

No.

Indulging your scrupulous tendencies only makes them worse. Seek professional help and spiritual direction from a real life priest.

Asking these questions here only make your situation worse.

No, you did not commit a mortal sin because once you realized what you were doing was wrong, you stopped.

I have been on medication for OCD and tried behavioral therapy, however the problem isn’t solved completely so far. I have found my new found faith has eased the symptoms quite a bit, I feel a bit scared of the idea of taking the Eucharist whilst in an undeserving state (not that we are ever deserving, but you get my meaning). My priest has asked me to confess about once in a month and warned me that there is a good chance that I cannot always find someone to confess to before mass, so the risk compelled me to register here and ask. Also English isn’t their first language and it’s the foreign language I have mastered the most, I am not certain if they are familiar with Obsessive Compulsive Disorder. And I live in a largely non-Christian and non-Catholic country. So all this compelled me to register here and ask these questions, but I intended to keep the questions to a minimum (just these two, hopefully). Thank you all for your replies, once again.
