So now that I’ve “answered your first question” … according to the bible god indeed murdered thousands of young children and infants, I guess you’re still avoiding my question (do you think it was righteous to murder innocent infants and young children), but you’ve also sort of answered it by inference.
I assume you do think it’s OK to murder thousands of innocent infants and young children to compel the actions of a single political leader, since you’re now asking me questions pertaining to the context this event allegedly occurred in (which infers you believe there’s justification in the context). I’m curious, if you think it’s OK to slaughter droves of babies and young children to bend the will of a stubborn political leader, I wonder under what other circumstances you would find such behavior acceptable?
Does it occur to anyone that if we have such a warped view of god, it might make us more predisposed to warped behavior?
It is impossible for God to murder anyone. He created them and so they are His to do with as He desires. He desires all men to be saved. Taking them as infants was perhaps a merciful thing to do since perhaps they would not have chosen to serve Him and thereby would have deserved hell and gotten hell for eternity.
Romans 9:20-26
But indeed, O man, who are you to reply against God? Will the thing formed say to him who formed it, “Why have you made me like this?” 21 Does not the potter have power over the clay, from the same lump to make one vessel for honor and another for dishonor?
22
What if God, wanting to show His wrath and to make His power known, endured with much longsuffering the vessels of wrath prepared for destruction, 23 and that He might make known the riches of His glory on the vessels of mercy, which He had prepared beforehand for glory, 24 even us whom He called, not of the Jews only, but also of the Gentiles?
25 As He says also in Hosea:
Code:
“ I will call them My people, who were not My people,
And her beloved, who was not beloved.”
26 “ And it shall come to pass in the place where it was said to them,
‘ You are not My people,’
There they shall be called sons of the living God.”
It really is none of our business what God decides to do with His own creation. We can be assured that He is both merciful and just. (paradox)
Luke 6:36
Therefore be merciful, just as your Father also is merciful.
Deuteronomy 32:4
He is the Rock, His work is perfect;
For all His ways are justice,
A God of truth and without injustice;
Righteous and upright is He.
He gives life. He takes away life. He is God. This is His job.
Isaiah 55:8-9
For My thoughts are not your thoughts,
Nor are your ways My ways,” says the LORD. 9 “ For as the heavens are higher than the earth, So are My ways higher than your ways, And My thoughts than your thoughts.
