If the Mass is valid, it’s valid- and therefore if it’s your only option, you should take it. Go, and pray for those involved. If the priest starts preaching heresy, just ignore him, but don’t be rude about it.

Please tell me that these Sunday “Guest Speakers” are not talking during the Mass, namely the Homily?

Among many other that are seen, this is a Liturgical abuse that one has a duty to report to the local Bishop, followed by the CDW.

The GIRM states the following:

*66. The Homily should ordinarily be given by the priest celebrant himself. He may entrust it to a concelebrating priest or occasionally, according to circumstances, to the deacon, but never to a lay person.65 In particular cases and for a just cause, the homily may even be given by a Bishop or a priest who is present at the celebration but cannot concelebrate.

I am pasting this from the website under “Mass” from their sidebar. It does not enable me to link directly to this. Sorry about the formatting - it was in a table, but I think you get the idea.

A unique aspect of Sunday Mass at St. Joan of Arc are the challenging presentations given by guest speakers and SJA’s pastors. This section of our webpage announces upcoming speakers. Please join us.

Minneapolis is a big area, with really decent public transportation. I think if I was a member of St. Joan of Arc, I’d take a bus to St. Paul if I had to do it to NOT be at St. Joan’s.

That being said, I have also lived in an area where there was ONE Catholic church for the entire county, where there was little public transportation- and growing up in Chicago, I did not have a driver’s license at the time. I still think I would try to find like-minded Catholic people going to another parish, and in the meantime, just attend Sunday Mass at the heretical parish- and pray a lot for the folks at the parish.

By the way, I went to St. Joan’s web site, and it appears their priest is retiring. Maybe the next one will be more in line.

The Catholic Church is unable to err in matters of faith and morals.

If the sermons at a church are heretical, then the church is not Catholic. And a Catholic should not attend church there.
