Is having heretical thoughts but later condemning them as false still a mortal sin?

I had thoughts about there being a blood line of Christ (even though there isn’t) and thinking that there could be a possible chance that someone who was famous could be a part of it. A few minutes later I realized I was thinking heresy and immediately condemned it. I came back from confession just an hour before. Do I need to go back?

No you do not need to go to confession. What you do need to do is get help for scrupulosity.
I’m starting some counseling with my priest regarding some of my issues. I guess I can ask him how to deal with this

Temptation are bound to take place,just temptations are not sin, entertaining them is! your using your free will,and consenting with full conscious,as the decision is ours then its a sin.

Matthew 18: 7 Woe to the world because of stumbling blocks! Occasions for stumbling are bound to come, but woe to the one by whom the stumbling block comes!

Sirach 37:17 The mind is the root of all conduct;
18 it sprouts four branches,
good and evil, life and death;
and it is the tongue that continually rules them.
wisdom 1:3 For perverse thoughts separate people from God,
and when his power is tested, it exposes the foolish;
4 because wisdom will not enter a deceitful soul,
or dwell in a body enslaved to sin.
5 For a holy and disciplined spirit will flee from deceit,
and will leave foolish thoughts behind,
and will be ashamed at the approach of unrighteousness

Matthew 4:1 [ The Temptation of Jesus ] Then Jesus was led up by the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted by the devil.

1 Corinthians 10:13 No testing has overtaken you that is not common to everyone. God is faithful, and he will not let you be tested beyond your strength, but with the testing he will also provide the way out so that you may be able to endure it.

James 1:12 [ Trial and Temptation ] Blessed is anyone who endures temptation. Such a one has stood the test and will receive the crown of life that the Lord has promised to those who love him.

8 Discipline yourselves, keep alert. Like a roaring lion your adversary the devil prowls around, looking for someone to devour. 9 Resist him, steadfast in your faith, for you know that your brothers and sisters in all the world are undergoing the same kinds of suffering.

What constitutes as entertaining temptations? I thought about something heretical and tried to rationalize why it’s false. Is that entertaining a temptation?
