Hermas & Did Paul think Christ was coming back at any moment?

I have heard that St. Paul understood the Parousia to be coming rather quickly; that talk of this early Church sentiment was evident in the writings of Hermas, especially a book called The Shepard. I didn’t see a specific mention of an imminent Parousia theory reading over the Catholic Encyclopedia entry on Hermes.

Has anyone read this work? Can you tell me the reference that indicates a sense that the Parousia was coming at any moment?

Yes, I think most of the early church believed that Christ would be returning fairly quickly. It was only when time went on, did the original witnesses decide it was important to write all these facts down. That is how the New Testament came about.
