Are there any orders out there for men who want to live out their lives in Solace and Penance? Where they can work with their hands, labor, grow food, and live out their vocation in Holy Penance and Adoration? Simple quarters to live?

You may find this vocation being lived out by a man written about some time ago: Mark Byerly. Here are some links - you may find a way to find him on one of these:

Oh - this second one has an email address:

This blog has another post on another man seeking the same thing -

Perhaps one of the links can help you…

Benedictines usually have a provision for a seasoned monk to become the community’s hermit. Thomas Merton became a hermit after many years in the Trappist monastic tradition.

Carthusians are not Benedictines, although I think, in their early days, they followed the OSB rule. Here is the site for the Charterhouse of the Transfiguration in Vermont:

The Camaldolese have both a monastery and eremitical laura (California):

The Monte Corona Camaldolese only have hermits (Ohio):

Carmelite Hermits of the Blessed Virgin Mary (Texas):

What you describe is very much like a diocesan hermit of my acquaintance.

Cool. Thank you for the posts. That’s pretty much what I was looking for as far as resources. Now the time of discernment begins too.
