Is the game “HEROES AND GENERALS” ok to play, or is it sinful?

I wanted to play the game, but i’m not sure if it’s sinful or if it’s okay.

I’ve never heard of it. What’s it about? What is the goal when playing? Why do you want to play? These might help you determine whether you should or not.

In general, playing war videogames is not sinful. If it was a videogame that made you rape women or take pleasure in ripping men apart and eating their flesh, or something equally nasty, it could very easily be sinful. But if it is more about education in history, tactics, and strategy while having fun and not really dying, that is legit.

Most people don’t know this, but the Lord once ordered the prophet Ezekiel to play a wargame for public exhibition, as a prophecy and graphic demonstration of what was in store for Jerusalem if the king and people didn’t repent.

Ezekiel 4:1-3 –

“And you, O son of man, take you a clay tile, and lay it before you. And draw upon it the plan of the city of Jerusalem. And lay siege against it, and build forts, and cast up a siege ramp, and set a camp against it, and place battering rams round about it. And take an iron pan, and set it for a wall of iron between you and the city. And set your face resolutely against it. And it shall be besieged, and you shall lay siege against it. It is a sign to the house of Israel.”

There’s a bunch more, as the Lord orders Ezekiel to do elaborate roleplaying and wargaming while interacting with his model over the course of more than a year, including eating the sort of poor food one would expect in a city under siege, and dealing with a siege’s shortages of cooking fuel.

As the Book of Jeremiah says, “The Lord is a mighty warrior.” He is also a mighty game designer and gamemaster.
