WONDERFUL NEWS!!!

I have been in contact with one of the Mothers of the Sacred Heart of Florence, Italy. They are a reformed branch of the Society of the Sacred Heart. They hold to the original constitutions. They have several American vocations, at least 2 girls from Stubenville, but they desperately need our prayers for vocations, if they are going to grow.

Read more about them here: Sacrocuore.com/comunita/index-en.html
They are pursuing the causes of: Sacrocuore.com/comunita/causes.html

The Religious of the Sacred Heart of Florence
*The Religious of the Sacred Heart of Florence are a monastic community dedicated to education. We are a reformed branch of the religious order founded by Saint Madeleine Sophie Barat in Paris on November 21, 1800. In 1992, the Church recognized the community of the Religious of the Sacred Heart of Florence as an independent House, “sui iuris” of Pontifical Right confided to the special care of the Archbishop of Florence as provided in can. 615.

Our charism is to glorify the Heart of Jesus, the Love of God made visible in the Incarnate Word, by means of the sanctification of ourselves and others. Through prayer and the development of the interior life, we strive to conform ourselves to Christ and then, through the instruction of the youth, to radiate that love to others.*

They shall have my prayers (even if I am not yet meritorious enough due to being Unwashed) in aeternum. We need more sisters and mothers on this Earth who can imitate our Blessed Mother in a traditional habit. It is a sign to the atheists that we shall never give in, and that our courage shall be on high. These women look to be sincerely dedicated to the cause of Christianity, so let us pray! 🙂

If I were to win the lottery, I’d keep enough to pay my living expenses for two years or so, and give every cent of the rest to orders such as these.

Deo gratias these groups still exist in these Godless times.

This is really one of the most interesting orders in the Church, not many know about them. They were at one time called “The Madames of the Sacred Heart,” because they were all known as Mother, followed by their last name. So, for example, they would be called Mother Smith, rather than Sister Mary Joseph.

They were founded by St Madeleine Sophie Barat in 1800 when she heard the call from Our Lord, in the appearance of his Sacred Heart, to teach the daughters of the wealthy, who at the time were not receiving a Christian formation/education. St Rose Philippine Duchesne soon joined and spread the order to America, teaching Native Americans and the daughters of Frontier Pioneers. She opened many schools here. They have taught some of the most influential daughters around the world and for many generations passed on the message of the Sacred Heart, which was another mission entrusted to their care, to spread love and devotion to and to glorify His Sacred Heart. They have a great devotion to Our Lady under the title, “Mater Admirabilis,” Mother Most Admirable. The story of that miraculous fresco can be read here: visionsofjesuschrist.com/weeping159.htm

Many people agree, particularly those who were educated by these nuns, that the order lost its way after the Second Vatican Council. A feminist spirit took over, the message of the Sacred Heart was cast aside, relativism, modernism and novelty took over. The traditional habit and even the reformed habit were cast off. Many of the wonderful traditions that they were esteemed for were lost. The mandate from Our Lord himself to teach the daughters of the wealthy was viewed by many of the sisters as elitist and as work and identifying with the poor became the vogue, many of the sisters became social workers and closed many of the schools that their predecessors had fought to build and then, after destroying so much in the order, left it. They were not given the charge to teach the poor as their primary charism, they were given an order by the Lord Himself to teach the daughters of the aristocracy–that WAS their mission, that is what they were known for. The cloister was completely abandoned and many live on their own today in apartments and so forth. One lady said on these forums that she recently received an alumni letter from them, nothing about the Sacred Heart, just about recycling. They used to cared about saving souls, now they care more about saving trees. It is all very sad.

However, the Religious of the Sacred Heart of Florence is a reformed branch, holding on to the original vision of St Madeleine Sophie and St Philippine. They have restored the wonderful traditions passed down, like the use of the term mother for all the nuns, etc… The world needs the message of the Sacred Heart now more than ever! When I hear people criticizing the Church, what I really hear is a cry from the soul, a despair from a feeling that they cannot live up to the moral teaching of the Church, so they would rather give up, than to try to lead a moral life, in the face of an unmerciful God. I think in great part this despair of the Lord’s mercy comes down to us from errors like Puritanism and Jansenism. If people only knew the great love God has for them, I think many more would respond to that love generously and try to battle it out in the moral realm, rather than just give up and in to sin and despair.

God bless the good works of these nuns. Please, please pray for many solid vocations to this order. Our Lord has placed a great love in my heart for them and the work they do.

Holy Mother Mary we pray for our friend’s intention. Hear our prayers

Hail Mary, full of grace.
The Lord is with thee.
Blessed art thou among women,
and blessed is the fruit of thy womb,
Jesus.
Holy Mary, Mother of God,
pray for us sinners,
now and at the hour of our death.
Amen.
