Hi everyone, its me again, i have a question about the Rosary

First off im REALLY sorry if i violated guidelines or if this topic has already been extensively talked about but i have an important question.

If you have read my other posts you’ll find I am a lifelong Protestant who is seriously considering becoming Roman Catholic (I feel like Ive become a Catholic in my heart and mind already if that makes any sense). My question is can someone who is not yet a Catholic pray the Rosary? I would ask my Catholic grandparents but then that would imply that i wish to convert and I dont think i should announce it just yet. (plus i dont see them that much)…its just, I prayed the Rosary tonight and it made me feel closer to God than I had been in a while. So, im just wondering, is it ok to do so since I am not yet offically a Catholic? Thanks. =)

Ohh and btw, I wanted to let u guys on the forum know, I have come on here and received nothing but strong, loving, no-pressure support from you guys, and I thank you for that. Indeed you’re a good crowd, if/when i find a parish to attend I hope they’ll be the same way =) GOod night =)

ohh and my gf doenst suspect anything yet even tho i asked her to pray the Hail Mary when we were talking the other night, it was wonderful =)
 
You absolutely can pray the Rosary. There are a lot of helpful materials available at Catholic bookstores or online that will tell you how to do so.

Best wishes in your exploration. And you may want to get in touch with your local parish to see if they have RCIA classes starting. It stands for Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults, and is a series of classes that explain the Catholic faith. While there won’t be any pressure on you to join the Church, there will be an opportunity to do so if you wish.

Anyone can pray to God anytime. The only thing you can’t do right now is receive the Sacraments. Attending Mass, prayer, meeting with a priest, chatting in this forum are all available to you. Relax and enjoy the journey.

You can do EVERYTHING a practicing Catholic does, except receive Communion. Go for it!!
 
Hi, yes, you can definitely pray the Rosary 🙂 I converted from Protestantism too, and I started praying the Rosary before I was officially a Catholic. For a long time, I was also a Catholic “in my heart” as you said.

Conflicted, they’re telling you rightly. I’m an Anglican, about to start RCIA in the fall, and have had a devotion to the Blessed Virgin and to the Rosary for nearly five years. During that time I have said at least five decades daily, sometimes all twenty! 😉 Prayer’s a good thing, and contemplation is good as well. The Rosary, as you know, makes use of both. And how can we amend our lives, and live those lives more fully in Christ, without prayer? Not only CAN you pray, God I’m sure WANTS you to do it. So grab those beads and get cracking, feller! Today’s Saturday, the Glorious Mysteries and when I say mine tonight I’ll offer my prayers for you.👍

I’m new on this site but I’m also a convert. Its been along time since my Baptism but you are heading in the right direction.

In the last three years I’ve been able to begin saying many, many Rosaries every day. What I did was buy a good Rosary CD and transfer it to an MP3 player. I just charge it up every morning, put on my head set and start saying Rosaries. I no longer listen to radio while driving, just Rosaries. BTW I prefer mine in Latin. Just love the sound of the words.

the short answer is yes you can pray it. anyone can pray to the blessed mother she is not the mother of catholics but the mother of everyone.

Padre Pio always called the rosary his weapon. he would say “get me my weapon.” the other priests were always surprised by this because as priests there not allowed to have weapons.

Pray, pray, pray the Rosary to our Lady. She is leading and supporting you to make one of the most important decisions of your life. She likes to hear from you.
 
Yes, of course. Many protestants actually have incorporated versions of the rosary into their prayer life.

Just take the time to think about the mysteries and listen to what God is telling you about them. Visualize yourself there if you can. What do you see, hear, smell etc? Many people find using a guide to be helpful. I needed to use one with pictures, scripture references and some other commentary such as “the fruit of this mystery is humility” in the beginning. Really helped me to grow as a Christian. I liked using an audio recording of others praying the rosary also. Had to try more than one though because some went too fast , some were too slow for my needs at the time.

Not quite… but don’t worry about that yet. You seem to be doing a great job of just keeping yourself informed as a Christian, and seeking the Truth as given by Christ and sustained by His apostles.

May Our Lady and all the Lord’s saints pray for you ever more fervently! We certainly will. :tiphat:
 
Hi - I’ve been praying the rosary since I was about 8 or 9 years old and that was a long time ago! I was only admitted into the church last year, so ***by far ***the majority of my rosaries were prayed prior to my becoming Catholic.

From my experience . . . . Devotion to Our Lady by praying her rosary really does lead to devotion to the Eucharist and for you that will be mean going to as many Masses as you want to and spending time in Eucharistic adoration, but not receiving Holy Communion. And in my experience, devotion to the Eucharist leads to sooner or later becoming officially Catholic. 😃 So don’t be surprised if that’s what happens to you, too!
