If you are sorry for all of your sins with the intent not to sin any more, and you die, your sins will be forgiven.

God counts catechumens as Catholics.

Don’t ask me how I know this.

But think about this: Jesus himself said that a man who looks lustfully on a woman has already committed adultery in his heart. How much more, therefore, will he count looking on the Church with love count as union with Her in his heart?

I agree, also look more into Baptism, and how we are forgiven of our sins when we are baptised into the Church
