I’ve never understood why God created multiple levels of Angels. I understand having one ‘leader’, per se, but why all the subordinates and the hierarchy?
Your question assumes that modern Western notions of egalitarianism are correct. Human societies tend to be hierarchical by nature. God created a hierarchical universe. Modern Western values do not necessarily equate to eternal divine values.
In a perfect world there would be no democracy… God values obedience and submission. Democracy is only necessary in the here and now because our leaders are also sinful and weak.
Here’s a starting point for your research. While there’s definitely a chain of command concerning Heavenly Angels, there’s also defined traits between each choir. In my opinion, each choir represents a separate species of Angels. Merely, look at the various descriptions of the wings or their height and you’ll see it corresponds to their choir. Also, each choir has a unique mission. It’s quite interesting!
