Amen.Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us now and at the hour of our death. Amen.
Amen.Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us now and at the hour of our death. Amen.
This seems unnecessary, and uncharitable.
Thank you both for saying what I was thinking…I agree. Hieromonk Ambrose needs prayers that God may alleviate his suffering as He sees fit. Anything else is not helpful at this time.
Lord have mercy on your servant.
The truth will set you free…This seems unnecessary, and uncharitable.
An apostate would be someone who entirely denies Christianity and becomes something other than.
Father Ambrose is a man of God who has found Him perfectly in the Orthodox Church.
We should all pray for him!

Amen.O Lord our God, Who by a word alone didst heal all diseases, Who didst cure the kinswoman of Peter, Thou Who chastise with pity and heal according to Thy goodness; Who art able to put aside every sickness and infirmity, do Thee Thyself, the same Lord, grant aid to Thy servant the priestmonk Ambrose and cure him of every sickness of which he is grieved; and send down upon him Thy great mercy, and if it be Thy will, give to him health and a complete recovery; for Thou art the Physician of our souls and bodies, and to Thee do we send up Glory: to the Father, and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit, now and ever, and unto the ages of ages. Amen.
Well, he publicly declared his hatred for the Catholic Church. Perhaps it’s a bit inappropriate to laud him on a Catholic site??!An apostate would be someone who entirely denies Christianity and becomes something other than.

Of course, we should pray for all those who hate, are sick and are in error.Alex
I will pray for you.Of course, we should pray for all those who hate, are sick and are in error.
I would say this ^^ is inappropriate to this thread, except that I can see you aren’t trying to start a debate, but rather responding to a debate that was already started. Still, I wonder if we shouldn’t start a new thread.Father Ambrose is a man of God who has found Him perfectly in the Orthodox Church.

Your conduct is a shining example one who has put on Christ, and studied the Gospels at length.Well, he publicly declared his hatred for the Catholic Church. Perhaps it’s a bit inappropriate to laud him on a Catholic site??!

I don’t understand why you didn’t quote the rest of that post (I’m not saying you have some ulterior motive, I’m only saying that it’s odd). In any case, the full quote is readily available:I detest the institution known as the Roman Catholic Church…
I detest the institution known as the Roman Catholic Church. Even the Irish Prime Minister Enda Kenny detests it and more than I do, I would say… He has thrown the Papal Nuncio out of Ireland. The Government has permanently dismantled the Papal Nunciature after the Government published its report on sexual abuse in the Diocese of Cloynes. He points out that the Vatican worked furtively to subvert the course of justice in Ireland. If you read the Irish papers you will know that the Catholics of Ireland agree with him.I detest it for abusing its authority to create mortal sins where there were none before (meat on Friday), imposing this burden on the faithful and thereby bringing about the damnation of thousands of its members. It set itself up as a vehicle of damnation and not a vehicle of salvation.I detest it for it efforts over many centuries to damage Orthodoxy, by wars and crusades and the creation of look-alike Churches in Orthodox countries. The Orthodox detestation of these Churches is evidenced by the number of times meetings of the International Dialogue have come to a grinding halt over this matter.(emphasis added)**But we must be absolutely clear… I do not detest individual Catholics nor the Catholics of Ireland nor Catholic faithful general. I love them as persons.

I provided the site - and even Jack Chick adds that disclaimer…I don’t see any difference between them except, as I mentioned, Jack was never a Catholic. Anti-Catholicism takes many forms - Fr. Ambrose is one.I don’t understand why you didn’t quote the rest of that post (I’m not saying you have some ulterior motive, I’m only saying that it’s odd). If by anti-catholicism, you mean being against the administration of the Catholic Church, then pretty much all Orthodox are “anti-catholic”, and most Catholics are rather “anti-orthodox” (look at all of the Moscow bashing that goes on here at CAF)I provided the site - and even Jack Chick adds that disclaimer…I don’t see any difference between them except, as I mentioned, Jack was never a Catholic. The fact of the matter is he hates Catholicism - and is public about it. I don’t understand why you are concerned I mention that - he wasn’t. Unless, maybe, there are those here with ulterior motives?
BTW I don’t understand why you didn’t highlight the despicable parts of the quote - and highlighted only the self-serving disclaimer (I’m not saying you have some ulterior motive, I’m only saying that it’s odd). In any case, the full quote is readily available and I’ll highlight the hateful sections:I don’t understand why you didn’t quote the rest of that post (I’m not saying you have some ulterior motive, I’m only saying that it’s odd). I fear many don’t know him - and his quote exposes him for what he is. Yes, we need to pray for him. But, he is not what many here say he is. He publicly says Catholicism is a vehicle for damnation - and you want us to pretend he’s all sweetness and light? He needs our prayers as all anti-Catholics do.Johnnykins
Perhaps the reason that folk are upset is that this thread was clearly posted as a request for prayer for someone , well known to many , who has been diagnosed with an untreatable cancer.
You have chosen to come in and raise matters that are best ignored and forgotten.
It is no function of yours to judge him and his motives - the only Judge is God , before Whom we all will one day stand .
Perhaps you would do well to think about that.
Meantime …
May the Lord have mercy on the priest Ambrose .
May the Theotokos cover him in her mantle of protection and when the time is right , present him to he Son
