High school Valentine's day conundrum

I’ve liked this girl (not Catholic) for a while now, and I’m fairly certain she likes me too. We’ve gotten to know each other better, and now with Valentine’s Day coming up, I was wondering what I should do. I want to show that I like her (I’m planning on just putting a cut-out heart in her locker), but I don’t know if I should pursue any sort of romantic pursuits because marriage is kind of far-off right now and I’ve heard that dating is discouraged when the ultimate intent isn’t really marriage. I really like her, but I kind of feel like that’s not something that God would want me to focus attention on right now. Can anyone shed any wisdom on this?

Instead of dating right now, how about getting to know her better through an activity at school you’re both interested in–a service club, perhaps?

Go ahead and leave the valentine, but don’t expect too much at least at first.

Ummm…leaving a valentine and posting on a forum is focusing attention on her:thumbsup: …and that’s ok. Who knows, maybe she’d be open to Catholicism. Go ahead and enjoy yourself with her.

Marriage is kinda far off, but plenty of people met their spouse while in high school. My wife and I were 16 and 17 when we met. This year will be 10 years together and 7 married. We have friends that dated since middle school and they are happily married as well. So it’s not out of the question for her to be the one…

First of all let’s not forget who St.Valentine was. He was a hero, true believer who paid with his life for moral strength. It is very tragic story. It is very sad and wrong that St.Valentine day is commercial chocolate and sex day.

Similar to what I was thinking. I have several friends that met their spouses in junior high and high school.
