"Higher" place in heaven

Who will have a higher place in heaven Catholics or Protestants?
 
Those who are Holy and whose good works have followed them.

And the FIRE of God will prove their works to be either wood/hay/stubble which will perish or gold & silver which will survive and follow them - their name tags will do them no good in that FIRE.

If it does not profit us in that day whether we are Catholic or whether we are Protestant why do we spend so much time asserting one denomination over the other?

Because the process of becoming Holy and the graces we need to get there is very important. There is one place where we can be assured of having many graces freely given to help us on our journey home, the Church with all the Sacraments given to us by our Lord himself.

It makes all the difference in the world. 🙂

Hisalone, some of Jesus apostles asked a similar question to him. Jesus mentioned the one who serves is the greater one. But it is the Father in heaven who determines this.

I can say for one thing the one serving now in heaven are the Saints, and the Blessed Mother who are praying and interceding for us THROUGH JESUS.

The one who will have the higher place is Jesus he is the one who served us life, and continues to serve us through his Holy Church in the Holy Spirit on earth. I will be glad if I make it to purgatory. I believe this much I am in the body of Jesus Christ. In the Roman Catholic Church.
 
Just wondering, The Catholic Church has always believed including the apostles after the resurrection of Jesus, that their are Apostles, Catholic saints, and Martyrs in heaven as described in the book of Revelation. Do Protestants or non catholics have faith that their are saints in heaven?

What I am saying The Saints that are in heaven presently believed as Catholics and Old testament Saints. The only ones I know who sit on the 12 thrones are the 12 Apostles who passed down to us the Eucharist from Jesus. What I am not saying is that only Catholics are there and are going to be there only.

Can you name some of the saints outside of the bible that you believe are in Heaven presently?

I am very impressed that you have the faith of God of the living and that their are saints in heaven.

As for me, yes you are wrong, at least in the sense of what you understand to be Catholics.

I do believe that Catholics have more to their earthly disposal in Sacramental graces to help us continue our journeys toward holiness. Do all Catholics avail themselves of these graces? Absolutely not. But then those outside of the Church have little recourse to many graces that are available to them through the Church and the Sacraments.

There are, however, many outside of Her who make great strides with those they have been given, I have many family members now gone, who were very holy people and not Catholic, I am confident I will see them again on the other side. And their works - I’m sure at least many of them - will most likely survive the Holy Fire.

I just wanted to add to this point, here on earth, The Catholic Church receives a foretaste of heaven in her heavenly Liturgies worshipping God along with the angels and saints in heaven during Mass, It is so wonderful, many miss out on this Gracious occasion celebrating the Wedding feast of Lamb in on earth as it is in heaven. I would encourage you to learn more about the heavenly worship on earth through the body of Jesus Christ, his Holy Catholic Apostolic Church.

The yearning in my soul to worship in this Spirit and Truth, gets fulfilled at every Mass. It is heavenly.🙂
 
I could use the answer that in heaven, everyone will be Catholic.

Now, before you flair up, hear the logic. The Catholic Church contains the fullness of truth on earth. Once we die, we will recieve the True Fullness of Truth, not limited by human understanding. Therefore, everyone will be Catholic. I am not saying that only Catholics get to heaven. But everyone will become Catholic upon entering. FOr the record, the same is true for hell. Only Catholics will be in hell, for they will all know the truth as well.

Enough of that. Personally, I do not think it matters. Once we are judged, who is where will make perfect sense. There will be some higher than others. Not all will have been Catholic on earth.
 
So “Heaven” is a place where people will be segregated based upon their value?

But then you are implying that outward actions cause you to receive more grace. This to me gets back to stating that works get you to Heaven which we know is not true. Good works are a product of Faith. The Grace we have from GOD is given freely and is unmerited, which is the very definition of grace. If grace is unmerited then how can you even think that you will receive more by doing meritorious things? Answer: you don’t. We’re not building up a quota of grace here on earth so that it can buy us a higher standard in Heaven. That makes no sense.

Think of the grace you give to your children. They don’t have to do anything but you will always look out for them. It pleases you when they exihibit good behavior and hurts when they don’t. But that has no impact on the amount you give. They can turn away from you and refuse it but that’s the same thing we can do with GOD.

If we make it to Heaven the label on our shirt of Roman Catholic or Protestant will mean nothing. People from both sides will not make it because we know there are those who say they believe but truly don’t.

This reminds me of the two apostles asking which of them would be more important in the kingdom of Heaven. It also reminds me of the joke where St. Peter is leading a newly deceased person through Heaven and saying “be quiet, each of these denominations think they’re the only ones up here.”

Seriously, does it even matter? Seeing as we “are all one in Christ Jesus” (Galatians 3:28), I don’t think there will be “rankings” per se. Yes, some will escape from the holy fire by the skin of their teeth, so to speak, but they will still be in heaven! We will be too busy worshipping God to care who’s higher.

Please do not take the opinion of Deacon, his accusation charge against the Catholic church about Graces is not correct. Please dont judge the Catholic church by what is accuses her of.

Where do you get the idea that there are “higher” and “lower” places in heaven? I certainly don’t believe that. Can you give a source or a rationale for your assertion?

Yes, it is, because, as Gershwin’s song say, “It ain’t necessarily so.” 🙂 IOW, just because Catholics have access to all the graces offered to mankind in and through Christ and His Church, it doesn’t necessarily follow that all Catholics will actually access those graces and be all that they could be in Christ. Those non-Catholics who fully respond to the graces they receive from Christ will be rewarded for their greater fidelity to those graces while Catholics who haven’t been faithful will likewise be “recompensed” for their infidelity.

But, more importantly, “higher places” in heaven, is more accurately understood as intensity of glory, wherein the image of Christ in one will be greater than His image in another - again, depending on one’s fidelity to His grace; but in this there is no envy or desire for more, because in God all will be satisfied, for He is sufficient for all our joy. 🙂
