This article theage.com.au/news/national/backpackers-working-as-prostitutes/2007/01/30/1169919313865.htmlis typical of a couple I’ve seen recently in Australian papers. Basically, proprietors of legal brothels are upset because of the growing problem of illegal prostitution. I don’t know whether to laugh at their predicament or despair at the state of the nation.

It is so obvious that all they’re concerned about is their own cashflow. By their creation of laws allowing brothels to operate, these people have generated a situation in which the only thing legally wrong with street prostitutes, in their eyes, is that they are not operating in a licensed brothel.

I’m sure others can express more clearly the irony I’m talking about here. Am I the only one who finds it odd?

Yes, it seems a shame that an ‘honest’ brothel owner can’t compete ‘fairly’ on equal terms.

Seems ironic that in the field of selling immorality, unethical behavior is being challenged by state approval immoral behavior.

One would think legal immorality would be contradictory terms. Maybe illegal immorality cancels each other out as in double negatives being a positive ??? 😛
