Since it is about a book, I decided to post it here:

New York Sen. Hillary Clinton is attacking a children’s book that depicts her as an inveterate liberal who tries to regulate a lemonade stand run by two budding entrepeneurs.

The book, “Help! Mom! There Are Liberals Under My Bed!,” by Katharine DeBrecht, stars “Congresswoman Clunkton” - a kind of cartoon verson of Nurse Rachet in a pantsuit who orders the young boys to reduce the sugar in their lemonade and add broccoli to each glass,

If she were truly a savvy politician instead of an ideologue, she’d just laugh it off. All she has accomplished is to draw attention to it that it might not otherwise have gotten.

Yeah, Steph it is. It ranks right up there with many things that have depicted Laura Bush in a bad light. How about the political cartoons that accentuated Condi Rice’s black features? How about all the negative print about how President Bush lies, although 100 Democrats voted yes on many of the same issues about the war? This is politics and it gets real dirty.

Do I feel bad for Hillary? Not really. She thinks it is fine to endorse abortion and all the evil that goes along with it. She thinks women are entitled to a choice of murdering their own children. Men, of course, don’t have that same right.And parents don’t have the right to even know if their underage daughter is having an abortion.

Stand up for Hillary and you don’t get a lot of sympathy on a religious site. Would I ever write these books? No. Would I ever even read these books, No! However, the author is making a point and it is satire. They are supposedly children’s books but I venture to say that adults are doing the buying.

Just an FYI…I actually own the book, love it and I live in NYC. So you can’t paint all of us with a broad brush.

Also - you’d be surprised. New Yorkers can be quite nice if cornered properly. Steph is entitled to her opinion, but I found things like…oh…Whoopie Goldberg’s comments at a John Kerry ralley at Radio City a bit more immature than this book. That and, as someone rightly pointed out, the racist cartoons from the left with Condi Rice looking like Aunt Jemima.

Yeah, they ride the fence and go either way on every issue the pair of Clinton’s! I guess for China they could argue that the women don’t have a choice to abort. They want that chouce for murdering their own. They think it is cruel that a government could enforce murder. Remember, only women get to murder their young in our country. Remember the young boy that helped his girlfriend murder their unborn? He is in prison, but she was only brining on her own abortion so she is free.
Hillary Clinton wants that same freedom for the young Chineese girls.

I never said Steph couldn’t have her opinion. I just don’t happen to share it. I was respectful, while mentioning the hate that has come the way of Republican women of power.

I have never seen the book. So is it a children’s book? Or is it chidren’s humor for adults?
I love New York, but just don’t like your one Senator that would be President. I was visiting from Illinois in upperstate NY a few summers ago and caught one of her press conferences. She was dissing Illinois, which I thought was very funny since that is where she was from. Oh Hillary, we can never trust you!

My memory of Hillary is in the Cathedral In NY. Was it Cardinal Egan (?) who was making a statement re: abortion & the only ones not standing to applause were Billary???

You’re thinking of Cardinal O’Connor’s funeral. Hillary stood for the standing ovation but did not clap and looked most uncomfortable. The Gores and Libby Pataki also if I recall correctly were looking like they might have strokes as well.The clapping went on for about two minutes.

Cardinal Law gave the homily.

I would never stand for a garbage children’s book about Laura or Condi.
Should you feel bad for Hillary? That is up to you, but I can’t help but feel bad for someone who is treated this way. It reminds me of a witch hunt.
Standing up for Hillary may not get me sympathy from conservatives, but it should get lots of attention from religious people who care about how others are portrayed and treated.
I do not appreciate any of the above comments on this thread about me, my inteligence, etc. It’s really out of line and frankly, I’m surprised it didn’t bother other people! Guess it just goes to show… if people are going to be stereotypical about one person, then why not everyone else right? That’s why I said this book was immature in the first place.

I’m sorry, I just do not expect to be treated like this on a Catholic forum. If you disagree with me- those above in this thread, not just Fitz- fine, but don’t paint me with such a broad brush. It’s not fair and I do my best to not treat others the way I was treated above.

Do you know what a parody is? Saturday Night Lives does them all the time and I don’t hear Bush or the others they mock complaining…

The book parodies the tendancy for democrats (liberals, really) to take away hard earned money and spend it on things that do not really improve society. Or that make things more difficult for people overall.

It’s really a book for adults…we got a good chuckle out of it because it’s true.

And if Hillary doesn’t want to be parodied, she should leave public life (and do us all a favor).
